The characters are well fleshed out, fascinating, realistic, and believable. The plot is wonderfully written, and the storyline will have the reader engaged right from the beginning. The author incorporates suspense and action with fantastic world-building. It’s refreshing how Macy balances a good mother and a great detective.

Pieces of Her is book twenty-eight in the A Riveting Kidnapping Mystery series. After a child disappears from a hiking trip in the woods during winter, a retired detective has no option but to confront his past that he thought he had buried forever.

After the disappearance, the local police think that the child just wandered off and got lost in the process. All search officers come from the woods empty-handed and wonder whether the child has vanished into thin air since there are no footmarks on the snow or anything that points to the disappearance.
Pieces of Her is a perfect mystery story about how children go missing and are never found as if they’ve vanished into thin air. A retired police officer views the case as a chance for self–redemption after being fired for exposing corruption in the police department. Can he find the missing Keith before the clock stops ticking? Can be able to stop this incident from happening again?

Can Jim find the police perpetrators who are linked to the disappearance cases? This is a thrilling book with suspense and action blended to give a perfect read. The tension will keep you on your toes as you try to figure out what happens in the end.

Food and water supply are scarce, and people are used to scrambling for little available resources. However, fighting to get a meal doesn’t matter so much if one can’t keep warm during the winter storm. All in all, people have to prepare to survive as the EMP has crippled the nation’s power grid and lawlessness has erupted in the country.

As they fight against chaos, Detective Mike Thorton has to rescue his family from the city to relocate them to his sister’s cabin in the mountains. Survival has become a normal thing, and a lot of adjustments in people’s thinking will have to be replaced by ordinary decisions. Evil is happening every day, and the author discusses the levels required for one to survive the situation.

The book is action-packed and moves along from one family member to another. This is a perfect book for anyone looking for an enjoyable, entertaining read about survival. It follows how two families were affected by the EMP and how they tried to survive during the first year.

This isn’t an easy task because the building he plans to escape is already burning while the adversaries are planning to take over the city. At the same time, his wife Kate and daughter Susan are dealing with trying to come together and live as one family. Can they all make it to the mountains, or will the storm catch up with them on the way? Can jack act fast enough to save his family?

The unexpected happens while the unthinkable starts unfolding as peoples lose their common sense to evil plots, anger, and revenge. People struggle to survive and escape as civilization untangles. The surprises will keep the reader in suspense throughout the story.

Just when the reader thinks that they are all safe, it appears that might be more danger waiting for them at the corner. The story is filled with action scenes, with the author giving fine details. Walker throws twists and turns to keep the reader flipping pages while guessing what will happen next.
