Robert Terrall is an American author of fiction. He was born on December 6, 1914 in Neihart, Montana, and passed away on March 27, 2009.

Robert Terrall has written using the pen names of not only his original name, but also Robert Kyle, John Gonzales or John Gonzalez, and Brett Halliday. He has been the author of many crime novels that have done quite well and been popular among readers.

Terrall first became a published author with the release of his novel They Deal in Death. The book came out in 1943. He also had a crime novel come out in 1948 that was an instant classic and extremely well reviewed. The book is titled A Killer is Loose Among Us. The book is about a lab that specializes in bio weapons that decides to develop anthrax that has become weaponized in order to be used in a deadly terrorist attack.

Robert is perhaps best well known to readers for his work on the Ben Gates series. The series is a comic that started with the release of Blackmail, Inc. The series started off in 1958 and the first book was quickly followed by the release of the sequel, which was titled Model for Murder. There are a few more books in the series that include the third novel (Kill Now, Pay Later), the fourth (Some Like It Cool) and the fifth novel, released in 1966 (Ben Gates Is Hot). He wrote the series under the pen name of Robert Kyle.

Robert also became involved with a new fictional series. The original creator and author of the detective Mike Shayne series ended up passing away. With Davis Dresser not there to continue the series under the pen name of Brett Halliday, Robert took over for him and assumed the same duty that Dresser had previously assumed.

As a result, he was able to write and have published well over twenty novels under the same pen name and keep the legacy going for a while longer. The series has had multiple movies made starring this character in addition to movies. The character appeared in seven films as well as a radio series.

Robert Terrall is also the writer of the Harry Horne series. He penned the series under the pen name of John Gonzales. The series kicked off with the release of End of a J.D. in 1960 and the sequel that was released two years later, titled Someone’s Sleeping in My Bed. The series was made a trilogy with the release of Follow That Hearse. The comics are considered classics.

Dividend on Death is the first book in the detective Mike Shayne series. The book was released in 1942.

The Private Practice of Michael Shayne is the second book in the series by author Robert Terrall ghostwriting under the pen name of Brett Halliday, inherited from celebrated author Davis Dresser.

Michael Shayne is in his downtown apartment and is just getting ready to fix himself a drink. In fact, he had already poured it when a woman tries to throw herself physically out of his apartment window. He decides to block her before she is able to be successful, but it is a close call.

Michael is able to block the woman and keep her from being able to launch herself out of the window. She was telling him that she was in fact suffering from being crazy and he didn’t listen. However, other people don’t agree with this analysis.

They think that she was going through a complex, a type of Electra complex. This would mean that she is so fixed on her mother that she would prefer to have her be dead by her own hands than to share her with others. This is what her stepfather (newly minted) and her doctor think, anyway.

The detective doesn’t know what to do, but agrees that he will do whatever it takes to keep Phyllis safe and hopefully from doing what she appears to inevitably be drawn to– which is killing her biological mother. Even if he does stay with her, it doesn’t mean that he will be able to control everything that she does.

Mrs. Brighton is eventually discovered and there is a knife buried firmly in the middle of her back. All of these signs are indicating that Phyllis did it, but the investigator doesn’t think that she really did it at the end of the day. He’s starting to wonder what he can do to crack this case. After all, he didn’t save this woman just so that she could be put to death in the electric chair.

Mike Shayne is on the case, but can he figure out who killed this woman and clear another woman’s name in the process? It’s up to this detective and investigator to find out. What will happen? You’ve got to read this debut novel from Mike Shayne to find out!

The Private Practice of Michael Shayne is the second novel in the series by Brett Halliday. When blackmail meets murder in Miami Beach, this murder mystery is about to fly into the sky and permanently become iconic. You’ve got to read this novel to find out why.

Mike Shayne has been rescuing Phyllis constantly ever since stopping her from going out the window. Now he is doing everything that he can to try and get her away from one of the creepiest lawyers in the area named Harry Grange. He already helped her to beat a murder charge.

The guy happens to be a dirty lawyer and is commonly hired by every seedy crook in the area. He’s Miami’s most wanted for legal representation and is currently running a blackmail racket. Then the detective sees him with Phyllis and tries to get her to get away from him. However, it’s too late. She won’t be swayed.

Now something has happened and Grange is dead on Miami Beach. With a gun missing and suspicions that someone took it and used it to kill the lawyer, the detective is going to have to track down his firearm and a killer. Read the book that was adapted into the movie Michael Shayne, Private Detective by reading this series by Brett Halliday, also known as Dresser and later Terrall!
