Robert Thornhill
Robert Thornhill is a cozy mystery author with an Impressive collection to his name. The award-winning writer started writing after he turned sixty-six, and he hasn’t looked back ever since. His debut series, Lady Justice, became quite a hit, and a good number of the books in it have earned different awards. Interestingly, some of the anecdotes in the Lady Justice series are borrowed from real-live events. Just like his protagonist, Thornhill spent over thirty years in real estate before retiring. He also never shies away from a challenge, and he embraced writing when everyone thought he should just rest and enjoy his sunset years. Thornhill currently resides in Independence, Missouri, together with his wife, Peg.

Lady Justice Takes A C.R.A.P.
Lady Justice Takes A C.R.A.P. is the first book in the Lady Justice series. The book stars Walter Williams, a 65-year-old retiree who decides to join the police force. After a successful career in the real estate industry, Walter retires only to get bored after a few months of having little to do. When he witnesses a thief snatching a bag in a car park, Walter decides to join a police initiative dubbed Citizen Retiree Action Patrol, or C.R.A.P. in short. Walter is the only one who enlists for the program, but surprisingly he passes all the tests. While he is assigned to a station, his colleagues do not think that he can make any difference in the force or last long enough to get anything done.

This changes when Walter joins a fellow police officer on patrol. William is able to take care of himself and outsmart the crooks he interacts with, much to his colleague’s surprise. While this older man doesn’t have his younger counterparts’ agility, he has some good tricks up his sleeves. He is also never alone. Walter has the support of his friends Maggie, Mary, Professor, and Willie. These senior citizens not only capture the Realtor Rapist, but they also help in taking down the City’s version of the Russian Mob. They use their experiences over the years and teamwork to perform tasks that would otherwise have been impossible. Will Walter’s younger colleagues start respecting him once they see what he is capable of?

There are many laugh-out-loud moments in this book. Walter laughs at himself and his partners, and instead of lamenting over what he cannot do, he happily embraces his limitations. The author expertly outlines the effects of age, and it is amazing how these characters handle all the challenges they encounter in the line of duty. This story is characterized by corny jokes, fun moments, and wordplays. It is refreshing meeting a fun character such as Walter and seeing what he does with his retirement. The conversations among these friends will leave you in stitches, and this, in addition to the unique storyline, turns this book in a page-turner.

Lady Justice Takes A C.R.A.P. is the first of thirty-one books in this series. The author introduces an interesting group of senior citizens who refuse to stay home and instead participate in an initiative geared towards keeping their town safe. This, of course, comes with its fair share of embarrassing moments, but Walter and his sidekicks prove that it is never late to learn some new tricks. The characters in this book will make you change the way you view the senior set. If you are in the mood for a quick, light, and humorous read, this book is a perfect choice.

Lady Justice and the Pharaoh’s Curse
Lady Justice and the Pharaoh’s Curse is number 17 in the Lady Justice series. The story starts with the stealing of an artifact and the bizarre murders that follow. Why would the murders start after the stealing of an artifact from the King Tut exhibit? Is there a connection between these occurrences? Just when the Kansas Police Department is trying to link the artifacts to the killings, a local author releases a new novel titled The Curse of the Pharaohs. The writer attributes the death to a prophecy that stated that death would come to anyone who disturbed the king’s peace. This meant that the death would only stop if the Anubis was returned where it belonged.

Does this claim hold any water? Walter and his partner Ox Wilson set to find out. The fact that half the City believes that the author is right doesn’t deter them. Walter and Ox dedicate their efforts to uncovering this mystery while still handling their everyday challenges. Walter is also on trial for a case involving the use and growing of medical marijuana. In the artifact case, Walter will have to borrow from his earlier experiences to unravel this mystery. However, things will get crazy when he and his partner come close to being accused of the murders. How do they get themselves out of this tricky situation? Will their boss, Captain Short, listen to them when they have done little to deliver the results he expects?

This book comes with an interesting mystery that the characters will be working to uncover. The author includes some interesting details about ancient Egypt, complete with images of the same. As he leads the reader down the twisted path of deception and murders, the author shows how some people fall victim of greed and sin. Just like in previous books, Walter’s friends step in to help and bring all the fun. Their antics are hilarious as usual, but they get the job done, and this is all that matters.

Lady Justice and the Pharaoh’s Curse comes with all the right ingredients to a cozy mystery story. There is the mystery, the bad guys, and corny jokes that will leave you with a wide smile on your face. Once again, Walter takes you on another adventure around Kansas City. The action starts right from the first page, and the pace remains steady until the last page. This book is perfect if you are looking for a light summer read you can devour as you soak in some afternoon sunlight. It is short, it is interesting, and there are loads of fun moments to keep you in high spirits.
