The Oregon Trail is a masterpiece featuring sixteen-year-old Matt and his friend Danny. The two escape the orphanage and run to the West. While there, they come across Jim Bridger, one of the mountain men, and before they know it, it is fur trappers. Unfortunately, the demand for beaver plews goes down, and the two opt to work as wagon train guides, where they go different routes. Matt gets used to being alone on the train as he starts his journey in St Louis with widower Cody McNair.
Cody has leadership experience and was even once a ship captain. His grown-up son and daughter, Jared and Ellen, are also in the wagon with him. On their way, they save several travelers from other trains, namely Nonnie Hughes, a widow on her way to West with her brother and nephew before their wagon got ambushed by a gang of the ‘Hood Raiders.’ Among the saved is Darci Clinton, who Indians had been captured after her family was murdered.
Tension increases among the passengers, but Cody ensures things are in place despite everything happening. Later, when the Hood Riders attack the train, the leader of the raid is killed together with some of the members while the rest escape. The train finally reached its destination in Oregon City five months and ten days after the train left St. Louis.
The novel tells the stories of a group of characters who stick and look forward to a better life in Oregon. The path is dangerous and filled with hazardous conditions as a gang of bandits steal from the wagon trains and leave dead bodies.
On the Oregon Trail is a story of courage and determination. It’s an easy read which feels like a traditional fairy short story. Despite the few pages, the author illustrates the scenery so well that the reader feels right in the Wild West. Vaughan did an excellent job developing the story with good research and editing to make it a master of adventure. There is a touch of romance, and this book is for readers who are fans of stories of desperation and despair.
The Crockett’s: Western Saga 1, set in April 1862 in St Ledger, Missouri starring Will and Gid Crockett. The two had not seen their people for over a year since the troops were bivouacked outside Springfield when the boys stopped visiting them. Both men had fought hard, and Will got the chance to be a Captain and ended up choosing Gid as his lieutenant.
Having declined the offer to join Quantrill when he stepped aside and began his regiment, the two were disappointed when General Pike ordered a retreat after they had Yankees outnumbered. Thinking taking a break would help them accept what was happening, they set off to see their family and friends.
Agreeing to stop for a drink before leaving the farm, the pub owner told the boys about what had happened to some of their friends. Before they could even arrive home, the Crockett farm had visitors wearing blue with their leader, Captain Otto Hoofman.
They all have the same plan on their minds of killing, ravaging, and destroying. Once they arrive at the farm, they are shocked to find their dad already dead and their mother having her last moments. At the funeral, the boys were approached by an old friend who had requested them to join Quantrill. He gives them a hint that he knows the killer of their parents and whoever burned their farm. After their mother had uttered a name before she passed away, this old friend confirmed it.
He also informed them that Quantrill had been chasing them. But do the boys want to revenge for the death of their parents? Have they ever even for a second thought that General Pike would come after them even though Hoffman had done the same thing to many other farms? Now it’s up to the boys to decide what path to follow.
The two friends pull strings to ensure justice is served to those who did wrongs in the various areas where they traveled. Vaughan’s choice of characters was wisely selected for their assignments throughout the novel, motivated by Western adventures.
Irregardless of their past, these rogue brothers beat all odds as they protect the innocent from the terror and fulfill their aim of bringing justice to those responsible for mistreating the innocent. They are focused on attaining their goal of getting justice for the voiceless and the weak for the mistreatment.
Vaughan uses his descriptive skills in the storylines that portray the intentions. The extraordinary Western adventures bring the thrill in the story to bring excitement. It’s an entertaining revelation episode of the well-written and entertaining series.
He did a marvelous job selecting his outstanding characters and their assignments in their entire novel, majorly influenced by Western adventures.
The story includes Law of the Rope, Trail of Vengeance, the Town that Wouldn’t Die, and Slaughter in Texas.

Your detailed description of the OK Corral shooting and the following trial with Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday has blown me away. I’d like to know if those details were historical or did you take artists’ license.
