Writing Career

Roberta Kagan, also known by her pen name, Veronika Knight, is an accomplished historical author with a prolific writing career. She has written a number of series and individual novels, all of which explore various aspects of the Holocaust and the lives of those affected by it.

The Promised Land

Roberta Kagan’s historical romance, ‘The Promised Land,’ was published on May 12, 2015 by Kindle Press. It is part of the ‘All My Love, Detrick’ series, of which readers should read in order. The novel features an intimate look at the characters and their stories across the years.

Zofia Weiss’s life was drastically changed when the Holocaust robbed her of all that she held dear. Her home was taken by the Secret State Police, her friends were killed and the man she loved was taken prisoner. After searching the displaced persons camps for him, Zofia is sure he is dead. She embarks on The Exodus, with a group of Jewish survivors heading for Palestine, with her life, a dream and a dark secret.

Despite the hope she feels, Zofia is always living in fear as the one person who knows her secret is a SS officer. When the SS Officer is convicted at the Nuremberg trials, Zofia is relieved and raises the innocent Lebensborn child entrusted to her. As the child grows up, can she and Zofia find peace in a post-war society or will the secret of her heritage tear them apart?

Another Breath, Another Sunrise

On June 25, 2017, the historical novel ‘Another Breath, Another Sunrise’ was released to the public. It was published through the Kindle platform, and is the fourth part of the ‘Michal’s Destiny’ series. It is important to read each book in the series in order to fully understand the story.

The end of WWII marked a new beginning for the survivors of the Margolis and Glassman families. Lotti Strombeck-Glassman, a German, had been married to Lev, a Jew taken by the Gestapo. Alina Margolis escaped to America and Gilde Margolis, only ten years old, boarded the Kindertransport to Britain. War-torn London was not an easy place to live, yet Gilde learned to love, sacrifice and survive.

Despite the horrors of the Third Reich, these characters found hope in the aftermath and a way to reconnect with those they loved.
