Ellie is just seventeen years old, and having a tough time in her life. One day she runs out of hope and sees no other alternative but to take her own life. But it turns out that things are just getting started.
It is the day after that she has chosen suicide and died. But Ellie, far from being banished to nothing or a punishment laced reality for her actions, finds that she is instead in the middle of having some sort of strange out of body type experience. Ellie has become some kind of spectator and is stuck between the current moment and the past.
As such, she is going over the events in her life that had come to pass before she died. Even though she’s trying to review her life, she finds that to her surprise there are holes in her memory. Ellie wants nothing more than to make these fractured memories whole and figure out what’s going on.
She remembers her mother, a woman that just wanted to be independent and free instead of being trapped in a cage. There was a silly boy that was able to bring color into the world thanks to his brushstrokes. Then there’s her father, known for his brooding and who goes through life with a type of sadness always attached to him.
Ellie wants nothing more than clarity, and that means discovering that why when she killed herself a part of her got left behind. Can she get to the bottom of this mystery? What happens if she is able to find those pieces– can she move on to an afterlife or will she continue to be stuck on Earth forever as an observer?
This book follows the moments, the good and the bad, that comprise Ellie’s life and the different energies of optimism and negativity. Find out what happens by picking up a copy of A Breath Too Late and reading to the end!
