Rogue Ethereal (Series by Annie Anderson)
Annie Anderson writes the “Rogue Ethereal” series of urban fantasy novels. The series is a spinoff of Annie’s “Phoenix Rising” series. For readers that love dark humor, foul-mouthed heroines, and enemies to lovers.

Come meet Max. She is inked and brash. Max has this bad habit of dying. A lot. She is also a Rogue with a demon on her tail and not too much backup. This is one witch with a bone to pick.

“Woman of Blood & Bone” is the first novel in the “Rogue Ethereal” series and was released in 2018. Max got burned at the stake when she was just fourteen, then drowned in a lake when she was twenty-four. Then at twenty-seven, she was stoned in a public square.

Max has died a hundred times in a hundred different ways, typically at the hands of humans that she has tried to save. However when this pregnant young woman finds her way into Max’s tattoo shop with a demon chasing her, things go from bad to worse. Being a centuries old witch is not going to help her this time around. Nothing will. This time around Max may just die in a way that sticks. Permanently.

Max is an awesome lead that kicks a lot of ass while she gives tattoos and tries to live her life. Annie expertly laid the groundwork for the next novel. She’s set the conflict up, given us some interesting new characters, and teased a romance, by the end you’re left desperate for more.

“Daughter of Souls & Silence” is the second novel in the “Rogue Ethereal” series and was released in 2018. A Council filled with Ethereal Elders wants Max dead. So yeah, it is a regular Tuesday. When you kill a demon there are consequences.

Half-demon, centuries-old witch, tattoo artist. None of these titles are going to save her this time around. The only way Max is going to get out of her death sentence is to take down the baddest and biggest demon there is. Her own father.

And she thought getting burned at the stake was bad.

Readers were hooked right from the very first page of this fast paced and enjoyable, and addictive novel. This was a unique read, filled with a ton of action and drama.

“Lady of Madness & Moonlight” is the third novel in the “Rogue Ethereal” series and was released in 2019. An ex-Rogue getting presented to the Fates. What could possibly go wrong?

When Max is offered a seat on the Ethereal Council, nobody said a word about meeting the actual Fates. However on the day of her presentation, not only does she offend the three women that control each and every single thread of life, however an Angel’s thread gets cut short, and nobody is sure how that happened.

Now it is Max’s job to find out who did this before the death gets pinned on her and starts a war. Maybe being a Rogue was actually the least of her problems.

Max has so much sassiness and snark, however it’s really her loyalty to those that she loves that really keeps readers spellbound. She is able to cut a striking path with her sarcasm, honesty, and vulnerabilities.

“Sister of Embers & Echoes” is the fourth novel in the “Rogue Ethereal” series and was released in 2020. Murder, demons, and a trip right to Hell.

Max believed that she would get a little time off before the veritable crap hit the fan, however fate (actually the Fates) have got other ideas. The witch that tried having her sister possessed has just escaped, and Max not only finds him dead, but she also doesn’t have a clue who he was working with. Or working for.

Now Max has got a ragtag bunch of stuffy law-abiders to lead, a Council Member in human jail, a solid inkling that the next person on the chopping block is herself. All of this would be bad enough on a typical day, but she’s got bigger problems. Maria is not quite right after some demon almost robbed her of her body, and Max has got a hunch that it will take a trip down to Hell in order to fix it.

Time for Max to sharpen her athames. Her vacation time has just ended.

“Priestess of Storms and Stone” is the fifth novel in the “Rogue Ethereal” series and was released in 2020. If Max has learned any lesson at all in her life, it is that fairies are the absolute worst.

Finding a fledgling succubus in Faerie is like finding a needle inside of a realm sized haystack. With a guide that Max cannot trust and a goal that is more ephemeral than smoke, her odds of success are just tenuous at best. Not to mention, since she is the last Elemental in existence, she has this gigantic target painted on her back.

This is because one half of Faerie wants her dead, while the other half wants to use her as a sacrifice to open up the gates to Earth. However she swore that she would find her quarry, and she will. Even if she’s gotta rip the whole realm apart in order to do it. There’s this storm coming to Faerie. That storm is Max.

“Queen of Fate & Fire” is the sixth novel in the “Rogue Ethereal” series and was released in 2020. Max is given a crown she never wanted. A life that she refuses to sacrifice. A bargain that she cannot take back. After spending four hundred years all on her own, one would believe that she would be able to just walk away and then never look back. Max had done it a thousand times in the past without an inkling of guilt.

However with her brand new predicament, there’s no way that she can possibly turn down this offered bargain, not if she wants everybody she loves to stay alive. Now, all she’s gotta do is journey through the very realm she almost died to keep sealed. Sure. Since there’s no way that could possibly go wrong. Unseelie Court, here she comes.
