The Rogue Wizard Series
A Wizard in Feud is a delightful blend of space opera and fantasy. It is the ninth book in the Rogue Wizard book series. In this book, Car Pike and his workmate, Alea must ensure that they are successful in reuniting a lost colony, which apparently is made up of Scots who have not only lost the parts but also the know-how and fuel of keeping a tech-savvy civilization going. Irrespective of the fact that the colony has increased in size, the society has in turn been broken down into warring clans that are equipped with muskets. Furthermore, the planet has also been invaded by alien species that are exceedingly intelligent and have six limbs. In species that have evolved more, known as the faeries, the two extra limbs have evolved to become wings. Elves, the faeries ground dwelling cousins, have been equipped with two sets of arms. Humans, faeries, and elves live together in an exceedingly tense environment.
The human beings have in turn learned how to avoid the forest over the years. While the elves and the fairies, on the other hand, have learned how to avoid the farms and the roads, which are constantly, being threatened by the outlaws and are also traveled by priests of one of the religions that had fallen into disbelief and peddlers. From time to time, the lovers from the feuding clans love to take residence in the clearings or near the fairy mounds, which are under the protection of herbalism and the aliens’ psychic powers. The numerous plot twists and conflicts are going to keep the new readers reading on, while on the other hand, the well-established fans are going to continue following the ever-evolving relationship between Alea and Gar.
With that said, the author has managed to provide his fans with a delightful story, which takes the two protagonists into a Scottish environment that is full of otherworldly creatures. Despite the fact that the readers may want the relationship between the two lead characters to spice up, the author has still managed to create a highly entertaining read. A Wizard in the Way is another excellent read in the Rogue Wizard book series. As expected, the book’s protagonist, lizard Magnus travels across galaxies to the stars where he fights both oppression and injustices as well Magnus is following the footsteps of his father, Rod Gallowglass. However, unlike Magnus’s infamous father, Magnus refuses to follow the rules. When Magnus’s long-time companion decided to settle down and get married, Gar Pike had initially thought that it would be better if he worked alone. Working alone meant no disagreements, no distractions and no one else to care for apart from himself. However, Gar Pike was not alone for such a long time.
It did not take long before he eventually managed to find for himself a new companion; Alea. Alea is an exceedingly young woman with a heavy dose of attitude and a great amount of physical ability. The funny thing about this is that Gar Pike had recently gotten used to having Alea around especially when the two landed on the planet of Oldeira. The various problems Alea and Gar encounter on the planet includes the tyrannical Wizard Lords who are in charge of the provinces and the attitude that has been instilled into the serfs. To complicate matters, Alea and Ger adopt two peasants who happen to be great examples of the lower class. Gar and Alea must first raise the morale of these people and then shape them into a force that is going to overcome the oppressors.
A Wizard and a Warlord is the 8 book in the Rogue Wizard book series. In this book, Magnus, the son of the warlock, travels to another galaxy to save the worlds of Terran from corrupt governments. In the previous installment, Magnus and Alea Larsdattar, his Midgard born companion head out to explore a planet that had no apparent government. The society itself seemed placid and prospered at a Neolithic level while the world was full of farming villages. The only piece of technology in the colony was in the hands of a priestess who believed that each of the machine and the hoarded knowledge was somehow related to magic. Unwilling to follow the culture’s peaceful nature, Alea and Gar travel to the alien land to learn more. Upon arriving, the two, Gar and Alea discover that one of the warlocks had been attacking villages and from the look of things no one appeared to be concerned. The villagers inform Gar and Alea, which when the warlock becomes a serious threat he was going to deal with accordingly by an organization which is known as Scarlet Company.
Alea eventually manages to solve the mystery behind this highly secretive organization, thanks to the ancient book. When they eventually meet the mysterious group, the warlord is easily vanquished. Irrespective of Gar’s initial experience, here Gar appears to be somewhat deaf and blind to the obvious questions. A Wizard in Midgard is the seventh installment in the Rogue Wizard mystery series. In A Wizard in Midgard, the planet healer, Magnus, aka Gar Pike takes on the proto-Nazi mentality and Norse mythology spawned by its use within Wagner’s Ring cycle in the sixth installment. After landing on a planet whose earliest inhabitants are known as Terrans, Gar is not happy with the slave keeping Midgarders, the normal sized humans who are in constant war with the tiny dwarves and the exceedingly large giants. After an accident had occurred on the initial colonizing ship, a majority of the initial settlers were killed, thereby forcing inbreeding thereby creating three races. With the assistance of the young Alea, Gar is able to implant the dreams and songs of peace that is going to heal this exceedingly appealing world.
