Box 21 is the second novel in the Grens series by Roslund and Hellstrom. This book starts off in a hospital in Stockholm. When a girl is brought in to the hospital for treatment and is severely wounded, the doctors are shocked. It seems that her injuries came from a brutal whipping and they could not be more horrific.

The young woman is named Lydia and she is a victim of human trafficking along with her friend Alena. They lived in Lithuania but were sold into slavery after they were offered good jobs in Sweden, information that came to her courtesy of her boyfriend. But when they realize on the boat that they’ve been misled, the two are locked up in the rooms of a brothel in Stockholm where the two are forced to work.

Dmitri at the brothel forces the girls to perform up to 12 times a day for the clients and after three years, the police bust open the entire operation.

At the hospital, senior officer Ewert Grens and police officer Sven Sundkvist are managing to close in on a lead that may prove very helpful. If the lead is true, then it just might help them to expose a mafia boss for good. Jochum Lang caused his partner to be in a permanent state of brain damage and be in a wheelchair for the rest of her life.

The man is named Jochum Lang and he is a personal vendetta of Grens’. He hates the man with a vengeance that will never die. However, that doesn’t mean that this guy isn’t dangerous. This notorious mafia boss is as dangerous as they come. That’s not going to stop Ewert from obsessing over him and trying to bring him to justice in the name of his partner Anni and her accident.

Grens is good at his job and solving crimes, but what happened to Anni haunts him. He’s been a lone wolf ever since that time, and now he spends the majority of his time doing his work alone.

But can Grens track down the boss with the help of Sven Sundkvist and bring him to justice? Two stories mix together in a story that will have readers turning the page to see what happens next!

When two bodies show up riddled with bullets and a room full of hostages is taken in the basement, things are at an all-time high of tension. But does Sven have the back of the senior officer, or is it every man for himself?
