Ruth Ann Nordin is a romance and historical fiction author from Montana. The author was born and brought up in Ohio but after she turned 18, she developed a wanderlust and lived in several states across the United States.
Some of her favorite states during this time included Alaska and North Dakota before she moved to Montana. To a point, Ann Nordin’s residencies in different areas of the US have influenced her decision to pen historical fiction. However, she has also used her imagination to add life and color to her fiction works.
Nordin published “Death Planet” her debut novel in 2002 and has now become one of the most prolific authors in the genre. She now has more than 100 titles to her name spread across more than two dozen novels, single-standing titles, an omnibus, and several nonfiction works.
Ruth currently makes her home in Montana where she lives with her husband and four kids. When she is not playing mother and wife, she can usually be going writing and reading her contemporaries, historical westerns, and regencies.
Like many modern authors, Ruth Ann Nordin is an indie author and self-publishes almost all her works. Initially, she thought she would become a traditionally published author since most people in her writing group believed it was the only legitimate way to make one’s name as a fiction author.
She was lucky that she did not get rejections per se. For the most part, what she had was feedback telling her what things she needed to change in her fiction works so that she could resubmit.
Before she was self-published, she worked with two different publishing houses. She was very unlike many authors as she did not want to submit her works to many editors and publishing houses.
She just could not get the enthusiasm to submit to tens of publishers maybe because she believed it was too much hassle. Moreover, Ruth Ann Nordin never liked to do everything they required of her. They would often ask her to chop and change the best part of her stories and she was often frustrated.
Ultimately, she decided to go the indie route much to the dismay of many of her aspiring writer friends who believed she was making a huge mistake. She has now proved all of them wrong as she has become one of the most successful authors among her friends.
Ruth Ann Nordin’s “The Earl’s Inconvenient Wife” introduces Nathaniel Burford the Earl of Roderick and Perry Ambrose the Earl of Clement who is also his best friend. The two men are headed to the metaphorical lion’s den as it is the season for marriage.
It is the time when formal balls are held and this usually lasts until the end of the summer. They are usually held to make it possible for eligible women and men to lay claim to and court the perfect suitor.
For many, marriage is all about propagating the family line and ensuring the family estate continues to remain in the bloodline. For such people, they are known to get married and thereafter settle into a partnership with their spouses while they take a lover on the side.
When the two young men arrive at the formal ball, it is Perry who sports Lady Claire Lowell and strikes up a conversation. However, fate has decreed that she belongs to Nate and it is he who ultimately ends up with her.
But there is a situation and while nothing happened, the actions of her sister and her father result in a nasty scandal. She is forced to marry the man so that he will be saved from the devastation of a scandal.
Nate is unhappy as he believes she set it up even though he does not care too much about it. On his part, He is just happy that he has a wife and maybe he can now live his life. All he wants from their union is an heir and he is thinking that if at any point he is not satisfied with his wife, he can always take a mistress.
Nordin’s “The Most Unsuitable Earl” introduces the Lord of Edon, Ethan Silverton that was very contented living his life. He has carefully penned a story that everyone that knows him believes he is a notorious rake.
For several years, he has been working to secure a reputation that would see him labeled London’s most undesirable bachelor. His plan seems to have worked perfectly as no decent lady is interested in him.
However, he made one error in judgment that may destroy everything he had built. He intended to dissuade a determined mother from pairing him up with her daughter whom he found horrid.
Since she was not dating anyone, Lady Catherine attended the ball without a partner. However, just like him she believes she is the worst candidate for marriage given his her reputation for being a rake.
He had approached her and asked if she would pretend that they were engaged and his plan worked. However, Ethan’s mother who wants him to get married is too smart for his play and starts spreading rumors about his engagement
To his horror, word of his engagement spreads like wildfire and he may have to see the lie through. There is nothing that horrifies him more than getting married but his mother wants it.
“His Reluctant Lady” by Ruth Ann Nordin is the story of Christopher Robinson. He has made up his mind that he is going to marry Lady Richfield and nothing and no one is going to dissuade him from his goal. He will do anything including fomenting a scandal just to get her to marry him.
However, Richfield does not intend to make herself the slave of another cruel man by marrying Robinson. She has always enjoyed her freedom ever since she became a widow. Unfortunately, she is hiding a secret that could destroy her reputation if it came out.
When there is a scandal, he runs with it and spreads it hoping that would persuade her to the altar. Will she be able to maintain her independence or will she have to marry Robinson who always ignites her dormant passions even if he is blackmailing her into giving up her heart as well?
