Ruth Axtell Morren is an excellent American writer of romance, inspirational, thriller, and Christian fiction novels. She is known to have written the Regency series and the Leighton Sisters series. Additionally, Morren has penned a few standalone novels and contributed to several omnibus collections. The authors with whom she has collaborated include Jennifer Blake, Lindsay McKenna, Cheryl St. John, Linda Ford, Yvonne Lindsay, Jillian Hart, Jenna Keman, etc. Sometimes, Morren also writes under the pen name of Ruth Axtell. Morren knew that she wanted to become a writer from the age of 12 when she penned her first story. It was a spy thriller and featured some interesting twists and turns.

Morren did not just go on to pursue writing after coming up with that book. She had to undergo many detours as she had to work towards achieving some realistic goals. Author Morren studied at Smith College and obtained her bachelor’s degree in the subject of comparative literature. She lived in Paris during her junior year. Morren resided in the Canary Islands, where she was employed as a teacher of English for some time. During her stay in Miami, Florida, she was a part of international development. It was in Miami that Morren came across her beloved husband, who was a Dutchman hailing from Suriname.

Following their marriage, Morren went to live with her husband in the Netherlands for around 6 years. While in Holland, she started working on her first story while giving birth and raising her children, Adaja, Andre, and Justin. It was also there that Morren got first recognized as an author when she entered the finals of the Golden Heart Contest organized by RWA in 1994. However, she could not make any considerable progress until after the earlier euphoria subsided. Morren moved back to the United States with her family and began living in Maine. It served as an ideal location for her to sit with her computer and work on developing her stories. The fir and spruce and the rocky seashore provided her the peace of mind necessary for writers to create exciting original stories.

Currently, Morren is engaged in teaching Spanish to students of elementary school through an after-school program. In her free time, she loves to take up gardening and knitting. The experience of living near the shores of Maine has helped her learn how to start a fire. She uses this skill to light bonfires on the cold mornings of winter. Other interests of author Morren include taking long walks, reading romance stories, and helping her students in growing up. Morren says that she been writing for the past 14 years. She received her first real encouragement 4 years after entering the field.

Morren’s second manuscript had reached the final of the Golden Heart competition in the category of historical romance. However, she did not know at that time that she would still have to undertake a long journey before her first book could be published. Shortly after the competition, Morren got closer to the Lord and shifted her focus towards inspirational fiction. In the next couple of years, she experienced a lot of spiritual growth. This led her to the idea of her first Christian romance story set in the regency era. Morren began the research work soon after and set herself on the course of developing her first published book. Eventually, Winter Is Past was released to immense success.

It took her a total of 4 years to finish the story, but she felt that it was worth the wait. Morren still remembers the days when she received the call from an editor who, after a healthy conversation offered her a three-book deal. Her joy knew no bounds and filled her with happiness as she had not heard of any new author getting such a lucrative deal. Thereafter, Morren wrote and published the three books one after the other and all of them received worldwide success. She expressed her gratitude to the generous critics for helping her cause by reviewing her novels positively. Author Morren hopes that they will continue to rate her books highly as she looks forward to writing many more exciting stories in the coming years. She wishes to get included among the top authors of the generation, however, she is aware that there are many more successful novels and many more years of hard work before she can fulfill that wish.

The Regency series written by author Ruth Axtell Morren is comprised of a total of 4 books released between 2003 and 2008. All the books’ stories take place in Regency London. Along with describing the main characters in the lead, this series also features some interesting stories of the minor or secondary characters. Some of the prominent characters mentioned in the novels include Tertius Pembroke, Lady Gillian Edwards, Dr. Ian Russell, Eleanor Neville, Miss Hester Leighton, Major Garrit Hawkes, and a few others. An excellent novel of this series is entitled ‘Dawn in My Heart’. It was released by the Steeple Hill publication in 2006. Initially, Tertius Pembroke is introduced as Skylar’s Earl. He is asked to return to his home in Regency London following the death of his brother.

Tertius is asked to get married as soon as possible and give an heir to the throne. His good wishers find an ideal bride in the form of Lady Gillian Edwards. She appears to be a beautiful, innocent, and young lady. But, Tertius does not appear to be an ideal husband. He has been carrying a dark secret in his heart since his return that he cannot afford to tell anyone, not even his betrothed. Lady Gillian has agreed to marry Tertius, but she cannot give her heart to him as she has already given it to someone else 3 years ago. Even she is in no position to let her secret out as she fears to lose the reputation of herself and her family. As time goes by, the two battle deceit and lies and carry their marriage forward with each other’s support. Later, when Tertius becomes ill without any hope of recovery, he asks Lady Gillian to find the man she loved and get married to him.

Another mind-blowing book that Morren wrote in the series is called ‘The Healing Season’. It was also published by Steeple Hill in 2007. This book opens by showing that Dr. Ian Russell is desperately searching his life partner after spending years in the service of the underclass of London. Then, he has a chance encounter with the gorgeous stage actor named Eleanor Neville and falls for her beauty. Eleanor sees Ian as a man with a good reputation and having a personality that sets him apart from all the men she has come across in her life. But, she fears that her troublesome past might not allow her to live a happy life with Ian. He makes her believe that they will face every obstacle together and make their marriage work.
