The American author Ruth Langan is a highly reputable and influential personality, with a vast and extensive backlog of work behind her. Writing under a variety of pen-names such as R.C. Ryan, Ruth Ryan Langan and Eve Lang, she is well known for creating a number of well respected brands as well. With not only her pseudonyms being highly successful, though, she is also a bestselling author in her own right too, with a number of books in her oeuvre.
Early and Personal Life
With a keen passion for the written word ever since she was a child, the future author to be Ruth Langan, or Ruth Ryan Langan, was born in the United States. This would then lead the way to her following her life-long dream of becoming a highly successful and influential writer. Taking the time to harness her skills throughout the years she’d manage to build a name for herself as one of the foremost voices within her field to date.
Born on December the 12th in the year of 1937, Ruth Ryan Langan would continue to write and produce novels. Throughout her education she would also constantly be coming back to it as her first choice of profession, and as a passion. Starting out in secret almost, it was only when she was first discovered by her family that she was urged on, as she took the next step of getting herself published.
Focusing on romance mainly from a historical angle, and largely western, she would go on to create a number of works. Many of them being published under various different pseudonyms, she has managed to produce over 100 titles so far and counting. With her being cheered on by her family as well, she is now one of the most successful authors in her field to date.
Living in Michigan with her husband and happily married, she has five children and still writes to this very day. Not only is she one of the most prolific romance authors to date, but she’s also highly adept at creating an air of suspense too. With plenty more novels set to be released on the horizon, it doesn’t appear to be the case that she’s stopping anytime in the future, as her writing career will continue for some time yet.
Writing Career
It was in 1981 that her first debut novel was initially released, as she published the book ‘Just Like Yesterday’. This was picked by the label ‘Silhouette Books’ after being picked out of a slush pile, thus giving her her first major break in the industry. Since then she has been a highly prolific author with over one hundred books to date and counting, many under different pseudonyms.
Creating over eleven different franchises under her own name and a variety of other ones under her pen-names, she has a vast collection of work. Taking place in a variety of different places and eras, such as seafaring with ‘Sirens of the Sea’ or even medieval and fantasy with her ‘Mystical Highlands’ novels, she’s never short of ideas to keep her books publishing. The main thread running throughout these books, though, is romance, which is something she’s focused on for the majority of her career.
Garnering a huge amount of critical acclaim throughout her career too, she has also won some awards for her work too. Receiving the ‘Romantic Times Career Achievement Award’, along with a number of other prizes, she’s gained her fair share of plaudits over the years. This is not just national either, as she’s also built an international level of recognition for her work too, with her work translating globally.
Operating as an active advocate of her art-form, she has also been extremely vocal on her craft within the literature community. A participating member of the DWW, or the ‘Detroit Working Writers’ group, she is always willing to pass her skills on to others in her field. This is alongside being a chartered member of the ‘Romance Writers of America’ group too, as she also focuses on her specific genre as well.
As she continues to write to this very day from her home in Michigan, she’s also cheered on by her family too. Creating one of the most extensive backlogs of works across a variety of different genres, she is one of the most consistent authors to date as well. Not showing any signs of slowing down, her writing career is growing from strength-to-strength, from now into the foreseeable future.
Texas Hero
Originally published in 1993, this was all set to be the third title in the ongoing ‘Texas’ series of novels from Ruth Langan. Set firmly within the historical romance mold, it manages to capture the open expanse of the great outdoors in all its majesty. Fitting in with the themes and ideas of the previous novels, it works as a stand-alone novel, although it’s loosely connected by characters and family.
With a reputation that’s known far and wide throughout the state of Texas, Thad Conway is a somewhat dangerous loner and gun-slinger. Looking to get to her calm, quiet and respectable job of teaching out in the small town of Hope in Texas is one Caroline Adams; a woman trying to escape from her less than savory past. Soon, though, a wealthy man begins to spread horrible rumors about her, so Thad takes it upon himself to put a stop to this using all the skills at his disposal. Will he get to clear her name? Can they ever be an item? Is he really the true Texas hero?
Highland Heaven
Initially released on the first of April in 1995, this was to be the sixth title in the ongoing ‘Highlander’ series of novels. Released through the ‘Harlequin’ publishing label, this franchise was set in the Highlands of Scotland, as they incorporated an element of mysticism into them. Creating a style and tone that was similar to the previous novels, it managed to give readers more of what they had now come to expect from the series overall.
Out to defend her family’s honor, Merritt Lamont is a female firebrand who is out to do whatever it takes to defend her home. That’s when she comes up against none other than Shaw Campbell who is also out to defend his clan, as the two of them find themselves clashing against one another. Seeing something in his eyes, though, she finds that there may be something between the two of them, as he could be someone to share her life with. Will they overcome their differences? Can they stop the fighting? When will they find themselves in Highland heaven?
