Sam Pope (Series by Robert Enright)
Robert Enright writes the “Sam Pope” series of mystery novels.

“The Night Shift” is the first novel in the “Sam Pope” series and was released in 2018. Join the fight. Sam Pope was one of the UK’s finest soldiers, while serving more than a decade as an elite sniper. After an almost fatal shooting brings his career to an end, he returns home to his family and a possible new career in the Metropolitan Police. When disaster strikes and his bond with his family has severed, he takes this job as an archive officer with the Met, hunting criminals down who have beaten the system and delivering a brand of justice all his own.

Sam, after a terrorist attack at the London Marathon shakes the entire city to its core, decides to open his own investigation into the matter. Venturing into a world of police corruption and organized crime, Sam quickly finds himself as the number one target, and he faces a race against the clock in order to expose the truth.

“The Takers” is the second novel in the “Sam Pope” series and was released in 2019. Somebody must fight back. Sam has returned. While his mission against organized crime rages on, he finds himself being the target of this dedicated task force which is led by this tenacious young inspector. During a gun fight with some violent street gang, he discovers a desperate dad venturing into this world that he doesn’t understand, searching for a daughter that he won’t ever see again.

Realizing that the net’s tightening and the clock is ticking, Sam Pope burns a hole right through London’s underbelly in order to locate this missing girl, finding himself in the crosshairs of some of the most dangerous folks in the whole city.

“Long Road Home” is the third novel in the “Sam Pope” series and was released in 2019. The hunt has begun.

After Sam’s one man war on crime takes him into the depths of the Ukrainian underworld, he’s accosted by this elite US military outfit that is known as Blackridge. Under the threat of being incarcerated for his crimes, he agrees to join their squad after he learns that they are hunting for Sergeant Carl Marsden (his old mentor) through Europe.

Sam joins the hunt, as he’s suspicious of their accusations of terrorism, and hopes he can get to Carl first and learn why he’s running. While the chase intensifies and the body count continues to rise, the full truth about global terrorism and Project Hailstorm quickly become horrifyingly clear. Hunted by two different countries, and a mysterious man in black, Sam is faced by his most dangerous mission to date.

“Too Far Gone” is the fourth novel in the “Sam Pope” series and was released in 2020. Every fight has to end. Sam, after surviving the onslaught of Blackridge in Rome, has been lying low in Italy. With the world changing files in his possession, he’s faced with the decision of vanishing or bringing General Wallace down for good. It becomes apparent that his fight is going to eventually cost him all of those people that he holds dear, he heads back to the UK in order to finally bring all of it to an end. To bring Wallace down, and learn the truth about Project Hailstorm.

General Wallace is waiting and watching. The moment that Sam shows up on the map, he will take him down, but he’s not the only person that wants the truth kept buried and this dangerous ally emerges. Even though their truce is a shaky one, they share a common goal: to take Sam Pope out and keep Project Hailstorm hidden from the rest of the world. Set on a collision course, Wallace and Sam know that there’s just one way this fight ends.

“The Final Mile” is the fifth novel in the “Sam Pope” series and was released in 2020. Fight to survive.

Sam Pope, faced with life behind bars, has made his peace with his fight being over. After learning the harrowing truth behind Project Hailstorm and bringing the corrupt General down, he’s abruptly sent off to Ashcroft prison. It’s a secret and maximum security prison which is known as ‘The Grid’, which houses the most dangerous criminals and a sadistic group of guards that keeps them in line. All of them bay for Sam’s blood.

While Sam continues to fight for his survival, Mac fights for his shot to get vengeance. With Blackridge now disbanded, his former comrade works his way back to the UK in order to settle this score once and for all. However with Sam now off the grid, Mac’s willing to go to extremes in order to draw him out, putting those that Sam holds dearest in horrifying danger.

“Man of My Word” is the sixth novel in the “Sam Pope” series and was released in 2021. Fight for somebody.

Alex Stone saved Sam’s life. On this rainy and cold night in Rome, Alex had just showed up right when Sam was going to be executed. With his life hanging in the balance, she’d gone on the run with him, nursed him back to health, and gave him the shot to fight back. It was a chance he took in order to bring down Wallace, Blackridge, and the full truth behind Project Hailstorm.

However Sam made Alex a promise. Since the US Government had used her family as leverage in order to control her and while Sam was headed back home to fight his battle, so did Alex. Desperate to be reunited with her siblings, Alex was more than willing to do anything she had to in order to get them back. It was this desperation which led her to the Death Riders, this notorious biker gang close to a war with some local drug lord.

With the DEA watching every move, Alex’s desperation has taken her to a pretty dark place. With all hell soon to break loose, Sam’s journey to track her down is going to put him right in the middle of this chaos and he’ll need to go to extreme lengths so he can prove what it truly means for him to keep his promise.
