About Samuel Marquis

An author of award-winning historical novels, Samuel Marquis is an American writer who really does excel in the genre. Creating a tone and style that is very much his own, he pushes the format to its fullest, exploring a whole range of ideas and subjects. Hugely entertaining, his work has been massively popular with readers from around the world, as he’s become a household name for many. Early and Personal Life

Born and raised in Denver in the United States, Samuel Marquis would grow up the great-grandson of Captain William Kidd, the legendary privateer. Always interested in history and all things literature, this passion would feed into his creative writing, as he would focus on his craft. Attending Bromwell along with Graland Country Day School, he would grow up with an interest in sports, always active during his youth.

Developing his style throughout the years, he would establish his own personal brand, marking him out as a writer to watch. Winning numerous book awards, from the USA Best Book, to the National Indie Excellence, he’d soon be on his way to becoming an international success. Still writing to this very day, he lives in Louisville, Colorado, with his wife and three children, with more books planned for the future.

Writing Career

The first book that Samuel Marquis would publish was titled ‘Blind Thrust,’ and it would come out back in 2015. Not only was it the first book in her career, but it would also be the first in the ‘John Higheagle’ series of historical mystery novels. These stories would go on to set the template for much of Marquis’ career to follow, with his interest in creating suspense and intrigue.

Other series that he’d release would be titled ‘Nick Lassiter – Skyler,’ and ‘World War Two,’ which would also focus on historical mysteries. Making the genre very much his own, he would go on to find his audience, as he would also write a non-fiction historical book called ‘Blackbeard’ released in 2018. All of this has made him the author he is today, gaining critical acclaim for his work, along with becoming a bestseller worldwide.

The Fourth Pularchek

Originally published in 2017, this would first come out on the 6th of June through the ‘Mount Sopris Publishing’ label. Following on from the last two books, this would be the third title in the ongoing ‘Nick Lassiter-Skyler International Espionage’ series of novels. Providing another action adventure, it shows the once writer Nick Lassiter turned espionage agent teaming up with the female assassin Skyler.

A now active agent of espionage, Nick Lassiter is working alongside Skyler, as they attempt to deal with Lassiter’s newly discovered biological father and an international conspiracy. From the American capitol to the streets of Warsaw, they attempt to uncover the secrets of Europe’s Second World War history. As the son of the intelligence commander and Polish billionaire Stanislaw Pularchek, he will do whatever it takes to find the truth. Can they find the secrets buried, will they all be able to work together as a team, and what will become of the fourth Pularchek?

The story itself is a fun action adventure, filled with excitement, suspense, and intrigue, keeping the reader guessing the whole way. It’s an entertaining novel with plenty to offer readers, really drawing them in and holding them for the duration of the book. Capturing their attention from the outset, it works on every level, really taking the series to the next level for both the characters and the world as a whole.

Soldiers of Freedom

First released in 2020 on the 31st of March, this would initially arrive through the ‘Mount Sopris Publishing’ imprint again. A stand-alone work account of true events during the end of the Second World War, it would provide a stand-alone narrative. Providing historical events, it offers an authentic insight into what actually happened during the end of the war in Europe.

Taking place between 1944 and 1945, this tells the true story of the war in Western Europe, looking at the final allied battle with Nazi Germany. Following a tank gunner named William McBurney, this sees him as a member of the 761st Tank Battalion, which was the first African-American tank unit in United States history. Then there’s General George S. Patton, Jr., and sixteen-year-old German resistance fighter Angela Lange, as they all tell their story of this volatile time. Dealing with the war and all manner of upheaval, they narrate their stories and their experiences of the fight for freedom against the prevailing forces.

Written in a clear, accessible style, this really delivers when it comes to interesting and informative historical details. Extremely well researched, it’s more than evident that Marquis has a lot of passion for the subject matter, really engaging with it. Bringing the story to life, he gives readers an idea of what it was actually like, fully immersing them in the period and world.
