Sandra Magsamen
Sandra Magsamen was born August 22, 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland. Her maternal great-grandpa William Fuld and her great-uncle Isaac Fuld, were early 1900s inventors that came up with the Ouija board. Sandra has four sisters, one of whom is Susan Huganir Magsamen, her twin and a scholar and author.

She got her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Swain School of Design in New Bedford, Massachusetts in the year 1981 and a Master’s in Art Therapy from Goucher College in 1984. She first got interested in the arts and the interaction of creativity, art, health, and well being because as a child she got severely injured in a farming accident and spent one year in home and hospital school where she spent her days drawing and painting.

She has a daughter, named Hannah, with her husband, Mark Barry, who is a painter. She splits her time between her home in Maryland, where she grew up, and her studio in Vermont, where she lives artfully with her family.

Sandra has touched millions of readers, one heart at a time. Her products have been warmly embraced for more than 35 years. As an art therapist, artist, mother, and an award-winning author, she uses her own spirit and creativity to design books, gifts, and collection which help people express themselves and connect with each other. She reminds and teaches us all to experience and explore every day with more meaning, heart, joy, and purpose.

In the year 1987, she started creating art of her own in her kitchen to commemorate the varied inspirations and experiences embedded in everyday life. She created a collection of pottery for her newborn daughter as a gift of life lessons. And it was this gift that became the essence of her life’s work.

Sandra, in response to a growing demand for her handmade originals, founded Table Tiles, Inc., her handmade gift company in the year 1991. In less than a decade, this company expanded into a multimillion dollar gift business.

Her reach has grown both in partnerships and categories over the years. In 1997, she started licensing her ideas. Since that time, she has designed successful collections for different national department stores, specialty, mid-tier, and mass market through her national lifestyle brands Messages from the Heart, From the Studio of Sandra Magsamen, Wishes & Kisses, and Treasured.

Starting in 2013, Sandra began a partnership with an online retailer 1-800-Flowers to design some exclusive collections for their customers. Theirs is a shared commitment and deep understanding, as they both want to help connect people.

Sandra is an award winning and bestselling author of more than 60 adult and kid’s books and has sold more than 8 million copies to date. Her kid’s books rank as bestsellers at Target, Barnes & Noble, Walmart, and Amazon, and are additionally sold at specialty markets, wholesale clubs, online retailers, and independent booksellers.

Her work with publishers Sourcebooks and Scholastic have made her a household name by publishing some of her most cherished titles such as “You!”, “I Love You, Honey Bunny”, and “Welcome Little One”.

“Living Artfully”, Sandra’s signature lifestyle book, which was accompanied by the television special, “Living Artfully with Sandra Magsamen”, premiered on PBS stations nationwide in December of 2006. She has been featured on US Weekly, The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch, In Touch, Woman’s World, Life & Style, Oprah Magazine, and Woman’s Day. Sandra is a featured columnist on Oprah.com with more than 200 articles.

Personalization has always been a natural extension of Sandra’s work and in the year 2014, she announced partnerships with Ty’s Toy Box, Put Me in the Story, 1-800 Flowers, and Walmart to bring some personalized product for their customers.

Sandra has grown partnerships with greeting card companies like Current and Hallmark. Her greeting card program can be found in more than 10,000 U.S. Post Offices as well as Barnes & Noble, Office Depot, and many other outlets across America.

In 2015, she started a partnership with Studio E Fabrics and, through this partnership, has created more than 30 “sew your own” fabric book kits, which include some of Sandra’s most beloved characters and her bestselling stories. She also started, that same year, working with Bamboozle Homewares in order to create a line of sustainable dinnerware for kids that was made from 100% recycled bamboo fibers.

“Peek-a-Boo, I Love You!” is a children’s book released in 2009. This is an adorable peek-a-boo book invites the little ones to play along with some of their favorite animals with some soothing rhymes and engaging illustrations that only Sandra Magsamen can possibly deliver.
