The Canadian author Sarah K.L. Wilson has been writing fantasy and paranormal romances for a Young Adult audience for quite some time now. Really knowing and understanding her market, she’s a gifted writer who keeps her audience reading, whilst saying precisely what she wants to say. Warm and humorous, she also knows when to keep it serious, being versatile with multiple different tones and styles. Imaginative and entertaining, her books are huge in both their sense of scope and scale, really opening the genre up as a whole.

Spinning intricate yarns for her audience, she definitely has a way with words, allowing her to convey a number of different ideas. Entertaining and intriguing readers in equal measure, she has a lot of fun with her material, making it work on a number of levels. Speaking directly to her audience, she communicates in a confident and straightforward tone that gets straight to the point. This sees her providing material that’s fun, but also deeper, offering some serious concepts underneath it all.

Whether it’s the obstacles her characters face, along with the moral hardships they deal, or the romantic passion of the leads, it’s clear that she has a strong message. Her characters themselves are also extremely engaging, as they essentially come alive for the reader, staying with them long after they’ve put the book down. Leaving an imprint, readers can relate to the plight of the characters through Wilson’s now trademark grounded approach. Planning upon releasing more in the near future, she has a lot more setup in the pipeline, as she will carry on writing for a long time to follow.

Early and Personal Life

Growing up with a keen interest in both reading and writing, Sarah K.L. Wilson was always a passionate storyteller. Creating whole new worlds with her words, she was continually crafting intricate storylines for her future readers to enjoy. This focus of hers would develop over time, allowing her to essentially become the writer that she always wanted to be.

Born in Canada, she would grow up in the rocky areas of Canadian Shield, which was based in Northern Ontario. Dealing with the ice cold months there, she would spend a lot of time writing, refining and honing her voice as an author. Currently still living there to this very day, she continues to write regularly, residing with her husband and two sons.

Writing Career

Starting out back in 2011, Sarah K.L. Wilson would begin her literary career with the series, the ‘Matsumoto Trilogy.’ This series would begin with the novel ‘The Ex-pacifist,’ which would be followed by the novel, ‘The Splitting,’ in 2016, and then ‘The Matsumoto’ later that year. Largely focusing on science-fiction and fantasy novels, she’d continue to harness her voice over the intervening years.

Over the entire duration of her writing career, Wilson would produce a large number of books, along with several stand-alone titles too. Writing alongside other fellow novelists, such as John Gunningham in 2017, she would also contribute to various different omnibus editions and collections. A USA Today bestselling author, she’s admired both the critics and the general alike, with lots more set on the horizon.

Ascendant Light

Initially published through the Kindle publishing platform, this would first be released back in 2018 on the 11th of October. The twentieth book in the ‘Dragon School’ series of books, it would provide the epic conclusion to the always exciting epic franchise. With the books themselves following on from one another, it’s best that they read in order so as to make the most of the overall series.

Will the end bring victory or defeat for them all, as Raolcan and Amel, along with all their friends, discover the true cost of their success. But first they must prove themselves, with the entire peace and prosperity of the Dominion resting entirely on their shoulders alone. Proving their honor and heroism, they must battle the odds, as they discover what self-sacrifice really means in the face of certain peril. Will they be able to save the day, can they overcome the hardships placed in their path, and what will become of the ascendant light?

This fantasy series really delivers on a number of different levels, making full use of its fun and highly engaging premise. Knowing exactly what it’s about, Wilson finishes off the series with both wit and heart, delivering everything the reader could ever want from such a franchise. Allowing the reader to fully explore its rich and expansive world, it’s both huge in its sense of scope and scale, as its audience will only continue to grow.

Color of Victory

Originally brought out back in 2019 on the 29th of May, this would first come out through the Kindle publishing platform. Finishing off the long-running ‘Dragon Chameleon’ series of novels, it would be the twelfth book in the franchise, bringing everything to a conclusion. Providing the end of the saga as a whole, it’s best that the books are read in order so as to really get the most out of them.

Fighting for true peace and justice, Tor Winespring is dealing with the full battle before him, as he fights for what he believes is a noble fight. With the peace of Ko’Torenth, along with the Dominion as a whole, hanging in the balance, he must face the danger before him. Fighting for hope and peace, as well as baby dragons, Tor must do whatever it takes to really save the day for everyone. Can he manage it though, will he be able to fight for what’s both right and true, and what will become of the color of victory?

Working in an episodic format, this series has really delivered, as Wilson never missed a step for the entire duration of the epic. It’s both well told and exciting, in what is a tensely paced fantasy novel with plenty of action and heart, really allowing the reader to get involved. The character of Tor is extremely well drawn too, as he brings the story to life, with the audience fully invested right till the very end.
