Scarlett Dawn is an American woman of letters. Incidentally, Dawn has three teenagers, something that prompted her to start writing books within the young adult genre; she has permitted her teenage children to read parts of her King Hall books—it explores themes such as love, tribulations, and war— because she deems that what is good for her children would also suit other people’s children fine. Dawn’s niche is especially fantasy, science fiction, contemporary, paranormal, romance, and new adult genres. Dawn likes the new adult genre because she admires plots full of chaos. Dawn, alongside her family members, are Midwest residents; Dawn’s perception of fun is loud music and has a penchant for indulging in cheese-covered fries. Among the authors that influenced Dawn includes fantasy-cum-paranormal romance scribbler Jennifer Estep.
Scarlett Dawn, who has a soft spot for eccentric and unconventional things, supposes that imaginative people transcend all boundaries. Dawn fell in love with books from a tender age, thanks to her grandmother who used to take Dawn along with her to bookshops during the weekends wherein she sought of started realizing her dreams when she became a voracious reader.
Scarlett Dawn, whose writing ritual entails the use of her imagination rather than conducting extensive researches, opines that it is the gateway her own unique lore and crafting funful mystical book characters.
Scarlett Dawn: Baby Steps as a Fledgling Writer
When Scarlett Dawn finished writing the manuscript of her first book, she wrote a number of query letters that were nothing to write home about. Consequently, she received a quick succession of rejection letters. Ultimately, she changed tact and, as a result, resolved to seek her own pathway rather than a one-size-fits-all strategy.
It was not until Scarlett Dawn started researching on publishing houses that took novel manuscript submissions from prospective authors submitting without literary agents did she succeed. Finally, Dawn’s literary work found a publisher, Escape Publishing—it is a subsidiary of Harlequin Australia—whose submissions regulations resonated on the same frequency with Dawn’s work. The said novel manuscript has since been published as King Hall.
According to penwoman Scarlett Dawn, there was no specific motivation for penning the book named King Hall. In fact, she opines that she started out by penning short stories exclusively for self-satisfaction; and, thus, the books in the serialized Forever Evermore started as an idea in her mind which, eventually, started flowing easily and put down roots, albeit figuratively.
Section on Books
Author Scarlett Dawn has penned several noteworthy series of books, ranging from duologies to a trilogy to a quintet to a sextet. The earliest series of books that Scarlett Dawn authored is titled Forever Evermore series. Incidentally, there are six major works in the Forever Evermore series. There are about five editions of the first book contained therein.
By the way, the first edition was originally published in August 2013, titled King Hall; and this book is shelved under the fantasy (particularly magic and vampires sub-genres), romance (specifically paranormal romance sub-genre), and new adult fiction genres.
Lily Ruckler is the featured main character in Scarlett Dawn’s 2013 book entitled King Hall. Meet protagonist Lily Ruckler. Ruckler is a mystical being or, better still, a supernatural creature; even then Ruckler is a cross-breed of a shifter coupled with a vampire. Ruckler’s father was the ruler of vampires, her mother had a shifter background, and the man who partly raised Ruckler was a mage. Ruckler, who is a survivalist, keeps her descent secret because it might spell doom for her if it leaks out. Initially, Ruckler schooled with the Commoners before she attended King Hall wherein she had Mysticals as classmates.
The decisive moment in Scarlett Dawn’s novel, King Hall, is when there is a conflict between the mystical creatures (herein called Mysticals) and the common citizenry (referred to as Commoners). The title of the book denotes an institution wherein Mysticals attend in a bid to get initiated into adulthood and acquire the necessary knowledge for future leadership roles. Incidentally, the protagonist had been mated to a heir apparent, Dominic, the prospective shifter’s king. Unfortunately for Ruckler, Dominic dies during an attack, prompting Ruckler to take the power previously held by him. On the flip side, Ruckler is partly vampiric, necessitating feeding her on blood frequently. The ensuing story as Ruckler’s friends help her with the feeding is funny and exciting in this book that won Scarlett Dawn a literary prize.
