Shannon Drake is the pen name used by a bestselling American author named Heather Graham Pozzessere. She is famous for writing romance, paranormal, mystery, historical fiction, thriller, and contemporary novels. Besides using the pseudonym, Shannon also makes use of her original name and her maiden name Heather Graham for writing different genres of novels. Author Drake has written more than 150 books and novellas altogether. Her books have been released in as many as 25 languages throughout the world, and have been printed in over 75 million copies. Author Drake was born on March 15, 1953 in Dade County, Florida, United States. She spent her earlier days growing up in the Miami-Dade County. Shortly after the completion of her high school studies, author Drake was married to Dennis Pozzessere. After her graduation from high school and her marriage, she enrolled herself at the South Florida University and obtained a degree in the theater arts. For a few years after that, Drake worked in a dinner theater. She was even involved in bartending and singing vocals as a backup. When author Drake’s third child was born, she decided that she could no longer go out to work. Hence, she began staying at home and looking after the upbringing of her children. In order to keep herself busy during the idle times, Drake began writing horror and romance stories. Subsequently, she was able to finish and sell her first novel in 1982, called When Next We Love. In the years that followed, author Drake penned over 100 novels & novellas. Most of these novels were primarily romance stories. Drake even tried her hand at historical fiction, romantic suspense, time travel, mystery, etc. Author Drake has been the launch novelist for the Silhouette’s Shadows line, the Mira Books of the mainstream brand of Harlequin, and the Ecstasy Supreme Line by Dell. Drake was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the RWA in 2003. She is an active member of numerous writers’ groups, including International Thriller Writers, MWA, Novelists Inc., etc. Drake has formerly served as the Vice President of the Horror Writers Association. She has received the Silver Bullet from the Thriller Writer for her charitable enterprises. Author Drake founded RWA’s Florida chapter.

Since 1999, she has been hosting the Vampire Ball of Romantic Times every year for charity. In order to benefit the libraries of the New Orleans city, author Drake hosted the Writers for New Orleans in 2006, which comprised of the events of dinner theater and workshops. This event was hosted on the Labor Day and was again organized on the same day the following year. Besides all this, author Drake also founded the Slushpile players & Slushpile band. In 2016, author Drake announced that she has teamed up with author Chad Michael Murray for co-authoring his second book called American Drifter. This book is expected to be released in the month of November 2017. The books of author Drake have made it to the bestselling lists of a number of publications such as the New York Times, USA Today, etc. Drake has won many awards for her books, including more than 20 trade prizes from numerous popular magazines such as Waldenbooks, Romantic Times, BookRak, Affairs de Coeur, B. Dalton, etc. In addition to writing many bestselling novels, author Drake has appeared in television shows like Romnatically Speaking, CBS Sunday News, Entertainment Tonight, etc. Drake’s books have been selected for Literary Guild and Doubleday Book Club. As of today, author Drake resides with her loving husband and her 5 children. She says that she manages to somehow juggle with her career, marriage, and family, and has achieved a success level that others can aspire.

The debut novel of this series is entitled ‘Beneath A Blood Red Moon’. This book was released by the Zebra publication in the year 1999. Author Drake has set the story in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States, and has described the central characters as Magdalena Montgomery and Sean Candy. At the start of the book’s story, it is shown that Magdalena Montgomery is commonly referred to as Maggie and is the owner of an elegant boutique in New Orleans. She comes to know about the brutal beheading of a local person on the street. What comes as more shocking to her is that the blood trail leads to her own building. Maggie’s shock turns into turmoil when she meets the investigating police officer named Sean Candy, who arrives at her apartment for questioning. It turns out that something beyond reason and powerful has brought the two together. This something speaks of a passionate and interwoven past that had begun many generations ago. Later, Sean learns that Magdalena Montgomery has turned into a vampire on the erotic night of seduction. She begins her years-long quest of finding a man, whose love is pure and who is capable enough of saving her from her own darkness inside her.

At the beginning of the story of the book, Jordan Riley is introduced as a book critic. She gets invited to a Carnivale ball organized in Venice. After arriving at the ball, Jordan’s life undergoes a terrifying turn. Just when the festivity begins to turn frenzy, Jordan Riley gets saved by a man disguised in the form of a wolf. Jordan wonders whether she witnessed the entertainment at the ball or something more sinister happened? Following this, Jordan Riley is led on a journey full of nightmares, starting from a Venice church to a New Orleans secret society. She finds herself at reality’s razor edge. The savior of Jordan is always like a shadow covering her and saving her from anything bad that is about to happen to her. This mysterious man’s closeness is about to tantalize and torment Jordan Riley as darkness begins to fall. And this threatens her to get consumed by an eternal hunger. This book met the expectations of the reader quite well. The characters helped to form a great plot and storyline. A number of critics praised the story of this book and also appreciated the efforts of author Drake in writing such a thrilling vampire story.
