Shaughnessy Brothers by Samantha Chase is a series of novels by USA Today, New York Times bestselling author, known as one of the most prolific pure contemporary romance authors. Unlike many authors, Chase published her first novel “Jordan’s Return” in 2011 aged forty. Nonetheless, she has asserted that she had always wanted to be a writer. She started out teaching creative writing in elementary school before she worked her way to high school students. Part of her job was motivating her students to follow their dreams of becoming authors. After spending most of her thirties telling others to follow their dreams, she decided to do so herself. She currently has more than 50 novels published and says she is not going to slow down any time soon. When she is not working on her novels, she loves to play Solitaire and Scrabble on Facebook, read romances, wear tiaras, play with her Maylene her high-spirited pug, and spend time with her family of husband and two children at their home in North Carolina.

The Shaughnessy Brothers Series features the entertaining, caring, chaotic, loud and messy Shaughnessy family. They had suffered a great family tragedy and the different ways they reacted to it have made them very different characters. Aidan Shaughnessy the lead of the first novel of the series “Made for Us” is a control freak and perfectionist. This makes working for him very difficult, as he has exacting standards that he expects will be followed to the letter. Combined with the fact that he is practically the man that his brothers and sister look on for guidance, he has no personal life to speak of. But then he meets a stunning designer with the heart and beauty to melt a heart of stone. Zoe Dalton could just be the woman that breaks down the walls Aidan spent years putting up. The lead character of the second novel of the series “Love Walks In” is Hugh, routine oriented and highly organized hotel mogul who suddenly finds himself overwhelmed when his managing events coordinator quits. But then he catches the fun loving and free spirited Aubrey Burke breaking into his office. She is on the run from a huge mistake and desperately needs a job. They could not be any more different with regimented life and her quirky ways. Queen Shaughnessy the third brother is the lead of “Always My Girl”, the third novel of the Shaughnessy Brothers series. Unlike his brothers, he does not think about love though he loves to spend time with Anna his best friend that he has always seen as this tomboy he had known since they were five. But Anna had fallen for him though she had always found it impossible to tell him her feelings.

In “Made for Us”, the first novel of the Shaughnessy Brothers series, Aidan is the oldest of the brothers who takes care of the rest of the family. He had taken the death of his mother seventeen years ago really hard, becoming a rude and obnoxious person which did not do his social life any favors. He runs one of the most prominent construction companies in the state and expects perfection from everyone that works for him. The character flaws become more pronounced when Zoe a new decorator is hired to take the place of the one he had just fired. Zoe is a recent migrant into the town that once had her own interior design business in her hometown but had to leave after a tragic loss. She is currently employed by a design company and loves her job. But then another designer makes a mess of the work of a very important account and the boss assigns the account to Zoe. Aiden Shaughnessy’s project is now the only account she has to handle. While Aidan has always been known to be a major ass, Zoe is never one to be treated badly. When he tries, she calls him out and he just cannot find it in himself to answer back. But then she finds herself attracted to the man and it seems he is also falling for her though he knows nothing about treating people right let alone a girlfriend. He does not want to mix business and pleasure but his body strongly disagrees.

Hugh the lead character of “Love Walks In” is the second oldest of the Shaughnessy family. He has carried a terrible guilt for 17 years, blaming himself for the death of their mother. He believes that should he not have been grounded, he would have been running the errand instead of his mother. Almost overnight, he had turned from wild rebel child to meticulous scheduler and planner. He ruthlessly organizes his days and calculates almost everything that he does including his weekly menus to minimize any kind of risk. But Aubrey Burke inadvertently throws a spanner into his perfectly oiled machine when he catches her breaking into his office through the window. She is intent on getting back her suitcase that had been found on the resort grounds apparently with no owner. She was sneaking out of her room and had thrown out her suitcase and was in the process of going out after it when Hugh saw it and picked it up. It turns out that she was running away from having to marry a man she barely knew and was in the process of becoming another runaway bride. Hugh empathizes with her and helps her hide, only to find that she had learned of his problems with his managing events coordinator and taken it upon herself to help him. She had met his wine distributor and had turned on the charm that he agreed to partner with Hugh. But there is one catch, Aubrey has to handle the details meaning Hugh has to give her the events manager job. Will the quirky and carefree Aubrey work with the meticulous Hugh whose figures, plans and carefully practiced presentation she had just trashed in getting him a new partner.

“Always My Girl” the third novel of the Shaughnessy Brothers series is a novel about Quinn and his childhood friend Anna. She had moved in next door when they were about five and Anna had always loved him from the moment she set eyes on him. For more than two decades, she has kept her love secret though it has never undiminished even as Quinn remains oblivious to her feelings and paraded centerfold like women before her. They are best friends and Quinn feels a deep affection for her, but romantic love? that is not something he feels for the tomboy Anna. Anna is faced with a choice of moving on without Quinn or confessing her feelings to him. Each option fills her with dread since if she breaks contact with him she thinks she cannot survive the pain and loneliness. He has been her rock and friend with whom she has shared everything since she was seven years old. But then she could tell him and he ends up pitying her and she cannot stomach that. It is not that Quinn is totally interested in romantic relationships, but that he is distrustful and cynical of long lasting love, though he has seen and even envies the relationships his brothers have with their wives. It is clear that his friendship with Anna is very important to him but she does love him and he doesn’t love her or does he?
