Shelley Shepard Gray is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, who has written and sold over 40 novels in her career. Shelley is known to write her novels, particularly in the Literature & Fiction, Religion & Spirituality and the Romance genres. She says that she always wanted to write stories about the regular and likable people who are stuck in extraordinary situations, the people who mostly turned out to be Amish. Shelley lives in southern Ohio along with her husband, a couple of teenage children and a couple of pet dogs. The normal daily routines of Shelly are filled with the activities of a normal housewife and mother. She has said in her interviews that she finds it very difficult to find time from her busy activities to write novels, but somehow manages to do so and writes interesting novels for her fans. After her kids go to school each morning, she sits on her desk and begins to dream about other places by looking out of her window. She spends many hours in trying to build stories around people and places and drinks too many cups of coffee in the process. She says that by spending time in trying to write stories about the Amish people, she has become very well aware of the Amish culture and still enjoys knowing more about it. Shelley Shepard Grey believes that by giving each character’s progression in her novels, she had drawn her closer to the Lord.
Before becoming a noteworthy author, Shelly used to teach in elementary schools in Arizona, Colorado and Texas. It was the job transfer of her husband to Ohio that allowed her to try a hand at writing. She was encouraged by her husband in the process, who always had a firm belief that she will definitely a famous author one day. After all, he had seen her notebooks full of stories that she tried writing in her free time. Shelley stills remembers the day when she typed her first novel in an unfinished basement. In the beginning, she used to feel scared about failing to complete her book or feeling embarrassed if someone came out to tell her that she was not a real writer. However, she had faith in herself and believed in the Lord to help her in the times of difficulties. As of now, she has changed completely from her previous life and owns an office. Shelley says that even though she has become a famous author, her daily activities still remain the same as she finds herself busy with the daily chores. Shelley grew up in a number of places, including Houston, Colorado and Texas. She has graduated with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree and says that she has always been a gifted student. Other than writing novels, she has always tried learning ballet dancing. Shelley loves to cook and spend some quality time with her family. I am looking for suggested reading for my adult daughter. She reads at a lower lever so most adult books don’t work for her. Do you have any that might work?
I love your books and have a collection of them. I haven’t elderly friend whose husband passed away a year or so ago and she tries to keep busy as much as possible. She loves to read like I do but cannot afford to buy books so I share my books with her and now we have another elderly lady who is also reading reading them. It helps him to pass the time and not to be so lonely.
My husband jokingly says I’m gonna put him in a poor house buying books! But he knows that it helps me to relax and to enjoy my day.
I’ve always loved to read, but with teaching special-needs kids at high school was difficult as well as teaching American Sign Language at night at the community colleges. Now that I’m retired I can read all I want and when I started looking for Christian books, my eyes fell on, Amish box and I have been reading them for about six months now. As well as several writers jokingly I told my husband he’s gonna have to build me a couple more bookshelves to store my books. Smile.
Keep writing so that we can contain it our ladies group of reading!!
