Sibella Giorello is a famous author from America who has written a few very successful novels based on the romance, mystery & thriller, and the spirituality genres. She is particularly famous for writing down the successful Raleigh Harmon series that features Raleigh Harmon as a cool forensic geologist, who thinks that luck does not exist. The writing works of Sibella have garnered dozens of awards in journalism as well as won the Christy Award in the beginning of her writing career in the category of the best first novel. She has also been nominated for a couple of the Pulitzer Prize in her writing career. Sibella is the 4th generation Alaskan and lives in the mountainous region of the Washington State along with her husband and a few children. As a child, Sibella used to walk up to school during the winters in the mountains, even if the temperature was 20 degrees below zero. No matter how cold it was during that time, Sibella was just interested in the scenery of the place and never thought about the winters. She describes the region to be full of Fierce angels in the form of glaciers, shifting sues of snow in Decembers, the brisk smell of ice and the endless daylight and wildflowers during the Summers. Sibella left Alaska and went to Masschusetts to join the Mount Holyoke College for her higher studies. She majored in the subject of geology, but thought of herself as a lazy scientist in trying figure out the landscape of Alaska. Sibella Giorello began working on a tobacco farm after her graduation, and after that worked in a tended bar as well as did a few other odd jobs in order to earn her living. At one time, she became over-enthusiastic and sold her car for a motorcycle, and rode all the way to Los Angeles from Massachusetts. Seeing no direction in her life, Sibella kept on thinking whether her mother was right about asking her to join secretarial school.

When she reached East Texas in her motorcycle journey, she sat down to read the local newspaper, which was one of her favorite things to do. She used to take a good look at the pictures and stories mentioned in the newspapers. At one time she got the idea of writing her own stories. She reached Seattle and tried to get a job in some newspaper agency, but it was getting difficult for her to find one as no one was willing to hire a geologist for the post of a reporter. So, she started writing for a rock-n-roll magazine. Later, Sibella earned a degree in journalism from the Washington University and headed for the states in South for getting an opportunity to explore herself in the field of journalism. She went to Virginia and began writing for the Richmond News Leader and then for the Times-Dispatch. She says that it was Richmond, where she learned to write and met with her Italian husband named Joe. Also, it is the same place where she discovered her popular character named Raleigh Harmon. In the late 1990s, she became the mother of a couple of sons, who needed care and attention. So, she stopped writing for the newspapers and stayed at home looking after her sons. To her surprise, she enjoyed every bit of staying at home. In between her daily chores, whenever she used to get some time, Sibella would continue with her writing works. And some time later, he came up with the first book of the Raleigh Harmon series. Sibella described her as an FBI agent and a forensic geologist from Richmond. Author Sibella says that while writing the novels of the Raleigh Harmon series, it seemed to her like the character used to talk and she used to take notes.

The Raleigh Harmon series written by author Sibella Giorello consists of a total of 5 books published between the years 2007 and 2012. The initial novels of the series introduce the character of Raleigh Harmon as the forensic geologist staying in Richmond, Virginia. The first novel of the series was published under the title ‘The Stones Cry Out’. It was released by the Fleming H. Ravel Company publishing house in the year 2007. The plot of the novel deals with the FBI agent and forensic geologist Raleigh Harmon, who arrives at a huge rally in the Southside neighborhood of Richmond, Virginia. She finds a couple of men who were plummeting from the rooftops of a factory and were lying dead on the sidewalks. Even though the rally consisted of more than 500 people, but no one saw what happened to the men. It seemed that no one was willing to talk about the death of the two men. But Raleigh Harmon was determined to find out the truth and solve the case. She begins to carry out her own investigation and look for clues that would take her close to the criminals. Due to its unique plot and excellent characterization from the author, the novel became very much successful. It was later awarded with the Christy Award in the category of the Best First Novel in the year 2008.

The second novel of the Raleigh Harmon series was published by the Thomas Nelson publishing house in the year 2009. It was titled ‘The Rivers Run Dry’ and continued to depict the happenings around the life of the main character Raleigh Harmon. The plot of the novel once again features her as a forensic geologist and an FBI agent. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, it is shown that the career of Raleigh Harmon is put on the rocks and her life at stake after a routine case turns into a deadly one. Raleigh is considered to be very good at her job as a special agent, but she becomes a victim of bureau politics. When Raleigh gets transferred from Richmond to the drought stricken area in Seattle, being one of the few females in her team. The first that comes to her in Seattle is about the disappearance of a hiker and the arrival of a ransom note. She vows to find the missing person by relying on her forensic geology and leaves no stone unturned for uncovering the truth. This novel also became successful just like the first novel of the series because of its quirky cast of characters, evocative sense, fast-paced and twisting plot, a complicated heroine, and the poetic and gritty elements. With the help of all these elements, author Sibella was able to craft a superb mystery, that kept the readers intrigued with it till the very end of the plot.

Have read and loved all eight of your books in three weeks. Am hoping you’ll continue writing more books about Raleigh. I haven’t enjoyed a series this much since Daniel Silva’s series about Gabriel Allon.
