A successful series written by author Sierra Simone is known as the Thornchapel series. It began in 2019 and features the lead characters in the roles of Poe Markham, Auden Guest, St. Sebastian, and several others. The debut novel of this series is entitled ‘A Lesson in Thorns’. It was released as a Kindle book in 2019. The book opens by introducing Poe Markham as a librarian, who gets newly employed at Thornchapel. As she begins her new job, she looks forward to just a couple of things: to maintain a distance from the tortured owner of Thornchapel, Auden Guest, and to discover what had happened to her mom 12 years ago.
In the beginning, things seem to be quite easy for her. Poe keeps her head down while working in the crumbling private library of the big house and tries to get her hands on even the smallest information about why the remote manor was the last location where her mother was alive. But, there were different plans laid down for her at Thornchapel. As she starts uncovering the secrets of the house, she finds herself drawn into the elegant, seductive world of Auden Guest and his close friends. Poe is also attracted to the worst enemy of Auden, the brooding and beautiful St. Sebastian. As the coils of lies and truths begin to get slowly tightened around Thornchapel, Auden, St. Sebastian, and Poe begin unraveling into holy, filthy pain and pleasure. Together, they cause the awakening of a fate that may lead them to their glory or turn them into ashes.
The second volume of the series is called ‘Feast of Sparks’. It was also published in 2019 in the Kindle format. This novel is told from the point of view of St. Sebastian, who describes how he was headed for doom and fate didn’t have any plans for him. Then, the girl he admired the most and kissed once in the Thornchapel, Poe Markham, came back. Sebastian couldn’t resist her presence and shows desperation to get back with her. He learns that she too wants him as much as he wants her. But, the problem is that Poe also wants Sebastian’s worst enemy and the owner of Thornchapel, Auden. Around 8 years ago, Sebastian had done something terrible to Auden. He had also hurt him, which had added salt to his wound and lead to a deep rivalry between the two. Sebastian and Auden seem to be agreeing on just one thing, that is Poe Markham, who is determined to find a way to keep all the three together. They go on to discover several bones behind the chapel’s altar and realize that the secrets of Thornchapel are older and deeper than anyone can guess. Sebastian, Poe, and Auden wonder if they will be able to unravel all the secrets and come out alive or succumb to the dangers that lie in their path.
