Sigmund Brouwer is a published Canadian author of fiction. He is well known in the literary world and has written many fiction novels as well as series in a variety of genres. He has composed over a hundred titles and there are over four million copies of his books in print.

Born in 1959, Brouwer grew up in Canada. He was born in Red Deer in the Alberta area and still lives there to this day. His family is of Dutch heritage and he has five siblings. He got married to Cindy Morgan, a Christian singer. The couple has two daughters together. The author loves to spend time in Red Deer but also chooses to spend time in Nashville, Tennessee.

Some of his favorite hobbies include sports like golf and ice hockey. The author also does his part to try and encourage literacy and a love of reading and books in children. He makes an effort to travel every year across North America talking to students at their schools (around 80,000 yearly) as part of the Rock and Roll Literacy campaign.

In an attempt to bolster the cause of literacy, he has teamed up to write fiction books about hockey with co-writer Gaston Gingras. The books are composed in French. Gingras is most famous for playing with Montreal Canadiens and winning the Stanley Cup in 1986. Bryan Trottier, another hall of fame player with the NHL and a champion of the Stanley Cup six times over, has helped the author present the Rock and Roll Literacy campaign on a regular basis, working to help get reluctant readers into the habit of picking up a book.

He has written several series and stand alone books as well as novellas. He is well known for the Last Disciple series, collaborated on with author Hank Hanegraaff. The series came out in 2005 and is about the end times set in the first century A.D. and told from the point of view of a Partial-Preterist. Dead Man’s Switch, a novel by Brouwer, also received recognition for being considered the best mystery for young adults in Canada, earning it the Arthur Ellis Award. He has also had two of his books be considered for the TD Awards. While they did not win, Thief of Glory was named the Book of the Year by the Christy Awards. It also won as part of the Alberta Readers Choice.

Sigmund Brouwer is the creator and the author of the Accidental Detectives series. This fictional series of novels started in 1990, when the first novel was published. It is called The Volcano of Doom. The author followed that up with the sequel and there are well over a dozen stories to check out in this series! The Volcano of Doom is the thrilling first story in the Accidental Detectives series. Sometimes tropical destinations can be exactly what you dreamed they would be like. Other times, they can be a rude awakening where nothing seems to go right.

Ricky Kidd is excited for a vacation over Easter break in paradise. He’s there with his friends and his family, and it feels like it’s going to be everything that he ever wanted and more. After all, it’s in Hawaii, which is a reliable tropical location if you want to get some sun and have some fun. By all accounts, this should be an amazing trip.

While there are so many things that can go right here, somehow it all starts to go wrong. It starts innocently enough on a shark-fishing outing which quickly turns into a scary experience. After that, Ricky doesn’t know what’s safe or who he should trust. Things are starting to get a little strange, which is only compounded when Mike finds a statue that appears to be old and Japanese.

To top that off, there is an older gentleman with white hair that appears to be showing up out of nowhere. They don’t know who he is, but he’s showing up so frequently that eventually they may find out. With odd things continuing to happen, Ricky can hardly be surprised when it is discovered that their host has totally disappeared. Maybe this would make sense, but his wedding is just a week away.

They feel that the statue may help them figure it all out. However, hopes of unlocking any clues go out the door when it’s stolen. Ricky is working with his friends to figure out just what is happening. With a mystery on their hands, can they crack the case before it’s time to leave? Are they in danger? The Disappearing Jewel of Madagascar is the second book in Brouwer’s Accidental Detectives series. If you are looking for a bit of light adventure and thrills, this is a great novel to check out.

Main character Ricky Kidd is back again, and inevitably unusual events start to follow him. He has heard about the Jewel of Madagascar’s cursed nature, but takes the tale with a grain of salt. He’s almost certain that he doesn’t believe the tale of the dark power that lurks within this object. Then again, he’s not totally convinced that something like this is outside the realm of possibility.

When odd things start occurring, he doesn’t know what to do. It could be a curse, or it could just be bad luck. He accidentally pushes a statue over that ends up destroying part of an old jewelry collection. Mrs. McEwan prizes these valuable antiques, and Ricky thinks that the debt he’s just racked up will take him most of his life to repay.

Ricky also notices that it seems like his friends are all avoiding him on purpose. Ricky’s also got his doubts about Mrs. McEwan’s nephew, who may not be all that he appears to be.
