Skye MacKinnon is an international bestselling author of romance, paranormal, and fantasy fiction who is obsessed with Scotland, dried mango, and bunnies.

She has made a reputation for herself writing novels filled with unique characters, romance, and mythology.

When she published her debut novel she was still working at a university’s media department.

Skye loved her job and hence it was not until she started achieving a lot of commercial success with her first few books that she asked her employer to reduce her hours.
She would ultimately quit her job to become a full-time author once her income became significant enough to replace her university salary.

She now works from her own office alongside her two bunnies surrounded by books, hills, the sea, and friendly people.

In recent times she has been writing mostly in reverse harem which she likes to describe as love triangles but without the decision and angst.

Her reverse harem works usually encompass several genres though she has a preference for post-apocalyptic, science fiction, fantasy, and paranormal romance.

The author currently makes her home in a small and cute little town in Western Scotland.

The author Skye MacKinnon has said that she has written stories for a very long time. In fact, she was telling stories long before she could write properly and used to replace words she did not know how to spell correctly with drawings.

She got more serious about writing stories when she was sixteen as a friend entered one of her short stories into a competition.

She was lucky enough that the judges deemed it good enough to publish and it was from that time that she developed the writing bug.

Skye would then get several short stories published in a number of anthologies, even as she started writing a longer novel on the side.

All she wanted was to become an author despite the fact that most people including friends and family discouraged her and told her it was not a proper job.

As such, when she graduated from school, she took a course in journalism and for a while worked as a freelance science journalist.

It was a stressful; job that called for her to be very creative and she just did not have the energy to be creative for her fiction during the evenings.
As such, her writing took a backseat for a while until she changed jobs, and all of a sudden, she had the energy and time to write once again.

Skye MacKinnon now likes to pen her works from a local cafe that she visits several times every week. She has become very well known to the waitresses and has even used one as a character in one of her novels.

She has also had crying sessions in the cafe as she was writing some very sad scenes. In such times, her favorite waitresses usually bring her some free hot chocolate. When she needs some motivation she usually bribes herself with food.

Once she starts writing she can usually get a thousand words at a time then get some chocolate before writing another thousand words. When she is done she can grab some dessert and then head home.
At home, she usually likes to write in silence as she finds music distracting, even though for some reason the sound of the busy cafe has never been a bother.

Sometimes, she will just sit at the cafe and listen to conversations as they provide some inspiration for scenes and characters.

Skye MacKinnon’s novel “Winter Princess” is the story of a demi-goddess named Wyn who is about to turn 22 and attain magical maturity.

She has not been told what she should expect and given that she was brought up in the human world, the magical world is a mystery. The guardians have told her that she will be picked up and taken to her mother the “Winter Queen” on her birthday.

On her birthday, there is all manner of chaos, and disaster is avoided only by the arrival of four very handsome guardians.

They get on their way pretty much immediately but Wyn is out of control which makes for a tough journey, made even harder by the presence of an enemy on the way.

Wyn does seem like she will be overwhelmed by it all but somehow she manages to pull through thanks to powerful magic and her brains.

Introducing the beautiful blond Crispin, the sexy Scot who gives great hugs in Arc, the smiling twin Fros and the Scowling twin Storm, it makes for a thrilling introduction to this reverse harem romance.

“Stones of Winter” by Skye MacKinnon continues from where the first novel of the series left off. In this outing, we learn a lot more about Wyn and her gorgeous guardians.
Combining some intense heat and varied magical powers makes it almost impossible to pick out a favorite.

The typical reverse harem romances tend to group their men into the typical shy, nerdy, flirty, badass, and brooding but these four guardians do not go there completely.

We also get a few glimpses of their past lives and especially how they came to be created. But the author keeps a lot of detail back and the steamy romance additions and funny moments make for some delicious scenes.

Just like the first episode, this work comes with a lot of action and the author does her best to offer some vivid descriptions of the bond between Wyn and the guardians. Skye does a great job in this outing as she always leaves her readers wanting more.

Skye MacKinnon’s novel “Winter Princess” opens with Wyn and her four guardians preparing for battle. But before they can head out, they will need to unlock the gates that have been blocked by paranormal forces that can only be overcome with magic.

The problem is her magic powers tend to backfire on her from time to time. Each of the four guardians has taught her how to use her elemental powers but she is just about to learn where the real magic takes place.

Add in a touch of chaos and a demoness with an ever-shifting personality and you get a very interesting story.
