Steena Holmes is a best-selling published author. She also writes books under other pen names, such as Anya Winter. She loves chocolate and the scent of vanilla and hates mushrooms.
Steena Holmes was born in Canada, growing up there in a small town with her family. She studied theology in college and graduated with her Bachelor’s degree. She is married and has three daughters with her husband. They live in Calgary, where Steena loves that she gets to enjoy the scenic views of the Rocky Mountains every morning.
Holmes first got the inspiration to write her novel Finding Emma when she went through a scary moment where she thought that her daughter had gone missing. That became an entire idea for a story and she penned what would be the first novel of the series and earn her an Indie Excellence Award in 2012.
The author has had an interesting journey to becoming an author and has had many different experiences in her life. She was a pastor and now is an author, reflecting that her personal journey has often been about self-discovery. Her view of who she was once she had the realization that she could write changed.
Steena recounts how she gave herself the permission to go after things, to fail, to succeed. She began hoping and dreaming again and realized that her passion was for writing. It is the main core of her identity and through it she found renewed joy in life. She embraced her roles as a friend, as a wife, as a mother and as a writer. Her actions and her life revolves now around what she is passionate about, like spending time with her daughters, with pets, writing, traveling, or enjoying a nice cup of coffee. Steena is determined to live her life fully and with passion.
Steena encourages other people that are thinking about writing to believe in their story and in themselves. She says that will definitely show when it comes to the actual story and your online presence. She thinks that when an author believes in their writing, their true heart ‘will shine’ through and the readers will notice!
She is the author of several stand alone fictional novels as well as the series Finding Emma, Love So Sweet, Stillwater Bay, Memory Child, Saving Abby, and the Halfway series along with co-author Elena Aitken. Holmes’ books have sold over two million copies, been translated into several languages, and have won her several awards and recognition from various publications, such as ‘Top 20 Novels’ written by women by Good Housekeeping in 2015 for “The Word Game”, which won the Best Fiction USA Books Award in 2015.
Steena Holmes is the creator and author of the Finding Emma series of fictional novels. The series first became available to readers in 2012 with the release of the first novel in the series. It carried the same title as the series, Finding Emma. The sequel to the first book would come out the next year and is titled Emma’s Secret. There are several great installments in this series and if you are looking for something new, check out this dramatic series by Holmes!
Finding Emma is the first novel in the Finding Emma series written by Canadian author Steena Holmes. This is the first story in the series that introduces readers to the main character of Megan for the first time.
Megan has children, and her youngest daughter is named Emma. The last time that she glimpsed her daughter was on her birthday. She was three. It has now been two years later and Emma is nowhere to be found.
She feels that she sees the face of her daughter in every girl that has blonde hair. No matter where she goes, she ends up seeing children, and always scans them to see if they are her daughter. Megan will do whatever it takes to track her daughter down, but it’s become a near-obsession and she even ends up following after little girls that she thinks could be Emma.
Megan has been affected by the loss of her daughter, and rightly so. But her preoccupation is affecting the rest of her relationships and her family and friends feel the distance. Her older daughters are frustrated by Megan’s refusal to give up the search, and even her husband wants her to accept that Emma has disappeared so that the family does not fall apart.
Then there is Jack, who loves his granddaughter to pieces. Emmie’s always been a dear part of their family, but recently he’s started to wonder about the secrecy his wife Dottie maintains not only about Emmie but Mary, the girl’s mother. As his wife begins to succumb to dementia, Jack starts to wonder if his wife has been keeping information from him.
When the town fair leads to Megan taking a picture of a young girl along with her apparent grandparents, could it lead to revelations and eventual disaster for Jack? Will Megan ever be able to find her child? Read this suspenseful novel to find out!
Emma’s Secret is the second fictional novel in the Finding Emma series written by Canadian author Steena Holmes.
Megan and Peter have always wanted to get Emma back. The girl was lost on her third birthday and her sisters Hannah and Alexis really miss her. But no one misses the girl more than her mother.
They want desperately to reunite with Emma, and it seems like a miracle when they finally discover her. All this time, Emma’s been living with an older couple not too far from where they live.
With Emma returned to the family, they hope that they can all become whole again and heal from the collective trauma of losing her. But Emma is not the same as when they lost her. She is grown more and is not the same cheery toddler that they all recall. Worse, they realize that she has little to no memory of her parents and sisters.
Her demeanor is different now that she’s back as well. Emma frequently seems sad and withdrawn. She also seems to miss the very people that abducted her. Can Megan and Peter deal with the transition? Or will their marriage be torn apart by secrets and emotional turmoil? Read this novel to find out!
