Stephen Blackmoore Best Books
Dead Things
In Dead Things, author Stephen Blackmoore introduces the readers to Eric Carter a perfect anti-hero. Apart from being vulnerable, Carter is also extremely flawed. As a necromancer, Eric Carter can communicate with the dead and in some cases even abuse the dead. During his early years, Eric’s parents who also had the ability to wield magic were killed. In his locale, Eric Carter is a widely known necromancer, whose day-to-day activities include exterminating ghosts, demons, as well as gremlins. Carter kills ghosts, demons, and gremlins to make a living. From time to time, Carter talks with the dead and they even follow him. Each of the ghosts has its own story. However, despite the fact that Carter has the ability to communicate with the ghosts, it also happens to be a curse, because each of these ghosts pesters him around.

Due to the fact that Carter did not want to put his family in danger, Carter was forced to flee his hometown in Los Angeles. After eliminating the head Jean Boudreau, the head mob honcho, the warning was quite clear. If he was not going to get out of town, then his family was going to feel the wrath of the mob. During this period, Carter wondered whether he should run away or stay back and fight. However, Carter decided to run away. After the vicious killing of his little sister, Lucy, Carter has no option but head back to his hometown. Carter wants answers, but the local police have nothing on him. From the look of things, a dark force was behind the killings. Due to the fact that the local police had no leads and from the look of things a dark force was involved in the killing, Carter decides to look into the case.

Carter begins by asking for help from his longtime friend and former lover. The tension between Carter and his former lover is still high. However, the feelings of abandonment, lack of trust and resentment is still present as well. To get results, Carter is forced into matrimonial deals, which will bind his soul. Furthermore, from the look of things, the person responsible for the death of Carter’s is not yet done. The death was committed for one specific reason. With that said, Dead Things is an amazing novel. Apart from the protagonists, the supporting cast was also brilliantly developed as well. The magic was not only intricate, but it was also bound by the rules as well. The world building was defined and confined as well.

Broken Souls
Broke Souls is the second installment in the Eric Carter book series. In Broken Souls, we meet once again with Eric Carter, who has the ability to interact with demons and ghosts. After being forced into a marriage with the powerful Queen of the Dead, Eric is more than determined to find a way to put an end to the marriage. Apart from the wedding ring, which unfortunately he cannot remove from his finger, Eric eyes eventually end up becoming pitch black. Eric knows that he has just made a rash decision, however from the look of things there is no way that he can be able to get out of the mess. In Dead Things, Eric’s sister was brutally slain, while his best friend was found dead as well. Eric’s former girlfriend hates him completely.

Eventually, Eric comes to the realization that he is now the King of the Dead. After the death of Jean Boudreau, the mob boss, a battle for supremacy and power erupts in the territory. One of the front-runners is none other than, Sergei Gusarov, a Russian and Katya, his demented sister. Eric Carter eventually finds himself tracking down these two wannabes. To wear people’s pelts, Sergei and Katya skin people using an obsidian dagger. Ultimately, Eric becomes the center of attention for the mob. Eric eventually teams up with one Gabriel Cortez who happens to be a witch. Unlike many witches, Gabriel Cortez is a rare kind of witch, who gives shelter to vampires in her self-run hotel. Gabriel knows everything about the obsidian dagger since it belonged to her. Upon hearing who possessed the dagger, Cortez is more than determined to get the obsidian dagger back.

Furthermore, Cortez does not like the Queen of the Dead. Thus, she devises a plan. First, she is going to get the dagger from the Russians. After getting the dagger, she will stop the Russian before killing the Queen. Warnings eventually begin to come from every corner. Eric eventually has no idea who he should trust, which in turn makes the plan more complicated. As Eric and Gabriel were tracking down the Russians, they appeared to know their every move; thus the two kept walking into traps. With that said, author Stephen Blackmoore is extremely talented. Blackmoore’s rather noir style is rather smooth and much easy to follow. The storyline is not only complex but also compelling as well. All the characters in the novel have been crafted amazing, while the world created is imaginative and well defined.

City of the Lost
The city of the Lost is a highly entertaining tale, which features a zombie as the main character. The dialogue in the City of Lost is not only in the present tense, but it is also hard-boiled. There are several moments of hilarity throughout the City of the Lost. In the City of the Lost, author Stephen Blackmoore introduces the readers to Joe Sunday. While stealing an extremely precious stone, Joe Sunday is killed. However, Joe manages a fete that no other man has ever achieved; he rises. This time around, Joe Sunday is a zombie that constantly craves for human flesh. Joe Sunday continues where he left off, and that is collecting the precious stone. Nonetheless, he must be extremely fast before a madman finds the stone before him.
