Perry has set this series during the last years of the 24th century and has shown that the galaxy has started to turn into chaos due to intergalactic wars. The debut book of the series is entitled ‘The Ramal Extraction’. It was released by the Ace publication in 2012. The central characters mentioned in this book include Colonel R.A. Cutter, Indira, Rajah Ramal. Initially, Cutter is introduced as a former Colonel of the Detached Guerilla Forces and the current head of the Cutter Force team. His team contains specialized individuals comprising of both humans and aliens. They serve to provide fight training, protection, and carry out assassinations and extraction missions.

Cutter agrees to take up a mission only if his employer pays well and the job is suited for the target. In their latest mission, Cutter and his team are hired to locate the position of the daughter of New Mumbai’s Rajah Ramal, Indira, and rescue her. They begin this task by trying to establish the identity of the kidnapper. Their list of obvious suspects includes insurgents looking to overthrow the rule of Rajah Ramal. The simple-looking rescue job turns out to be much more than expected when several other forces arrive to participate in the game and Rajah Ramal is attacked by an assassin.

The essential characters depicted in this novel include Kay, Colonel Cutter, Doc Wink, and several others. Perry has set this book on a planet called Vast. Initially, Kay is introduced as an alien member of the team of mercenaries headed by Cutter. She visits the brutal world of the planet Vast to carry out a task of mercy. Kay used to be a great healer before she joined Cutter’s team. When she learns that hundreds of Vast dwellers, called Vastalimi, are losing their lives mysteriously, she feels that her skills are desperately needed for helping them. Kay suspects that the plague is the result of a bio-engineered virus unleashed purposefully by evil to take control of Vast.

Doc Wink accompanies Kay on this mission. They come across many difficulties in their way in trying to eradicate the plague. As violence continues to be on the rise on the foreign planet, Doc and Kay ask for Cutter Force’s help. Until the backup arrives, the two have to fight as hard as they can and save lives before it is too late. This novel was equally well-appreciated by readers all over the world.
