Sue Coletta is an American crime, thriller, and mystery author originally from Marblehead Massachusetts though she now lives in Alexandria, New Hampshire. The bestselling author is a member of International Thriller Writers, Sisters in Crime, and Mystery Writers of America. She is best known as the author of the “Mayhem and Grafton County” series of novels. Coletta is also the author of “Susan Stoker’s World” a crossover of the Mayhem series. She is also a true crime author for a division of Rowman Littlefield Group. She has also published flash fiction and short stories in “Flash Fiction Offensive Magazine” alongside several other collections and some of her forensic pieces have been featured in “InSinc Quarterly.” Her “Murder Blog” has for four years been named in the Top 100 Crime Blog Award. Coletta also works as a communications manager for “Serial Killer Project” and “Forensic Science” both of which were founded by Joe Giacalone the Detective Sergeant and cold case expert.

Coletta has always written in one form or another and as a hormonal preteen, she often found comfort putting words on paper. If something was bothering her, she would often pen a letter to her parents and slip it under their bedroom door. As such, writing made it possible to share her emotions, feelings, and thoughts as a preteen. The letters often prompted conversations that became supportive and loving talks between daughter and mother. When she was in her twenties, she started penning children’s fiction since she wanted to say things to a boyfriend or friend and found the characters expressed it better. This would develop into a love for crime fiction writing as she loved delving into the minds of a killer and analyzing the psychology that made them who they are. Some of the authors she loved reading include Lisa Gardner, Katia Lief, Roy and Iris Johansen, and James Patterson among many others. As a young aspiring author, she was fascinated by how authors mesmerized with their prose which felt like magic and made her dream of becoming an author. However, she would pivot and work as a paralegal and cosmetologist while writing took a backseat. It was only after she finally shut down her hair salon that she wrote her first unpublished novel that she titled “A Strangled Rose.” Later on, she decided to study, research, and learn more about criminology, forensic psychology, and forensic science at the Writers’ Police Academy. It is there that she learned a lot about hands-on and intensive investigation techniques that she employs in her novels.

Since Sue Coletta is now an established author with seven critically acclaimed titles to her name, she offers help to aspiring authors through several media online. She is the founder of #ACrimeChat on Twitter, where police captains, corners, and detectives provide tips to writers. Every alternate Monday, she posts tips on “Kill Zone” the award-winning blog where critically acclaimed writers usually congregate.
