Summer Hanford is a historical romance novelist that was brought up in Upstate New York where her parents had a dairy farm.
She would graduate with an experimental psychology degree before getting a doctorate in behavioral neurology. She eventually got away from the long hours of research as she had always been interested in writing fiction.
Hanford published “Gift of the Aluien” the first of the “Thrice Born” series of novels in 2012. She has never looked back since becoming one of the most prolific authors in the genre.
In addition to her novels, she has also penned short stories that have been published in anthologies and various magazines including “Dream Stalkers Vol. II” and “Daughter of Icarus” among others.
Since 2014, she has had the privilege of collaborating with Renata McMann the fan fiction author. The two worked together to write the very popular variations of the “Pride and Prejudice novels.”
She is also a faculty member at an international creative writing studio, the Allwriters’ Workshop, and Workplace.
She currently makes her home in Michigan, where she lives with her husband and several very spoiled felines.
Just like many authors, Summer Hanford began writing when she was very young. Once she could write and read, she developed a passion for storytelling whether it was reading or writing. Once she grew up and got more serious with her writing, there was no turning back.
There was no exact moment when she first said I am a writer since it was always inching forward one step at a time. In some ways, she was always writing something throughout her life. It was “Something Wicked” which gave her her first break when the magazine accepted her first short story How Stan Died.
When it came to her first novel, her first milestone was when Martin Sisters Publishing bought her debut novel Gift of Aluien. She was inspired to write her debut novel since she had always had a desire to write epic fantasy and the time was just right.
The book went on to be so popular, that it sold more than ten thousand copies in the first year of publication. Another pleasant milestone was when she started getting a lot of reviews.
While Summer has seen massive success, she does nto believe she has reached her pinnacle just yet and keeps pushing herself even harder.
As a reader of Jane Austen fan fiction, Summer Hanford endeavors to keep her writing readable, as she believes this makes it more like watching a movie.
While many of the stories and characters in her stories feel very real and relatable, she has said that she does not base her stories on real people or real life. As for regency novels, she usually does a lot of research but loves that she gets to read about interesting historical times.
In a world where she is not a fiction author, she would have gone back to school to study and become a microbiologist or gone into advertising, which is something she has always been very interested in.
When she is not writing her novels, she can usually be found reading, playing golf, or doing some home improvements.
“The Archeologist’s Daughter” by Summer Hanford tells the beautiful story of two people with unknown connections and secret identities who care for the downtrodden. Just like many others in London, they have an admiration for a knight and widow who have dedicated themselves to serving the poor.
The knight patrols the dingier sectors of the city, stopping criminals preying on the weak while she hands out loaves from the steps of a small chapel. The latter goes by the name Mrs. Smith while the Knight has been nicknamed “Lord Lefthook.”
The knight has been leading a double life given that his evil father has been making impossible demands on him. He is supposed to wait until a certain age before he can marry as he is to be a typical roue in London.
His father has told him he would be providing him with mistresses but he cannot stay with one for too long as it would indicate forbidden affection. As a roue, marriage is forgetting heirs and hence when he is summoned to his father’s offices, he is shocked to learn he has changed his mind.
On his deathbed, the father informs the future Marquess that he has to marry in three weeks, or else his father will hand over everything to his half-sister.
Summer Hanford’s novel “The Duke’s Widow” is an enchanting work that introduces the Duke of Solworth, Robert. He has just discovered that his heir has been running down the estate and taking advantage of the maid right under his very nose.
He decides that he will remarry and produce another son to inherit his estate and lands. He has set his sights on a wealthy widow named Cecilia, who had survived a terrible marriage.
She has recently been targetted by all manner of suitors for her wealth and she does not know who to trust until the Duke of Solworth, who recently returned from Egypt comes to her aid. He is the father of Lanora her best friend and is always self-assured and the most handsome man she ever met.
Cecilia’s husband had been a degenerate man who treated her very badly for years before his untimely death.
The two need each other but given the one’s ego and the other’s hurt and pain would it ever work?
Will Cecilia agree to go with the Duke back to Egypt when she is more interested in keeping her heart from heartbreak and pain?
“My Lady of Danger” by Summer Hanford is a story set in London where traders of innocents could not have been more brazen. They are abducting young women from carriages and the streets that they go on to sell to the highest bidder.
Madelina Graydrake is a woman who spends much of her life training hard. She is now determined to take out the leaders of the gangs behind the abductions but she could not have been more unprepared to face Jasper McClintock.
Before the death of his father, he had everything as the son of a duke that was much beloved. But now that his father is dead, he finds himself on the fringes of society given his bastard status. He now saves stolen girls that are forced into prostitution in the brothels of the British capital.
How much easier it would be if he had not fallen for a young woman named Madelina Greydrake that is far above his station.
In a society built on class and gossip, Jasper and Madelina will realize that the dark secrets they want to keep hidden might just be their destruction.
