It does not take the family much time to get involved in an international incident because of which they get stranded. The plot of this novel is set in England and Ireland, and revolves around the happenings in the lives of the main characters named Sarah Woodson and David Woodson. In the opening sequence of the plot of the novel, it is shown that the Woodson family is taken brutally near the Irish Sea and Sarah is made to face the horror of the sex slave trade during the post apocalyptic time. She seems determined to escape from her captors, which includes a monster who has promised himself not to let her go out alive from England. Sarah decides to run away and survive the almost impossible and difficult journey of more than 1000 miles through the wilderness Welsh and use all the resources that she could so as to reach back home again. The plot of this novel appears to be a tale of adventure and the heart stopping description of the resilient human spirit, as well as the unfathomable depths of the love of a mother. The novel went on to become highly successful all over the world, just like the first novel of the series.
