Author Susan May Warren won her first story contest when she was just in the first grade; it was here that her writing started. Warren got her degree from the University of Minnesota in the field of Mass Communications. She got her first real writing experience as she wrote a bi-monthly newsletter that detailed ministry highlights and it was called The Warren Report. Growing up in Wayzata (which is a suburb of Minneapolis) helped make her an avid camper when she was just a young girl. The north shore of Minnesota is her favorite spot, it is where she met her husband and honeymooned and wanted to live there. She has four kids with her husband.
She is a romance writer that pens the “Christiansen Family”, the “Daughters of Fortune” series, the “Team Hope” series, “Deep Haven” series, and “Noble Legacy” series. Her work has been translated into different languages and have been bestsellers.
Susan May Warren has won the RITA award, the Inspirational Reader’s Choice contest hosted by RWA, and American Christian Fiction Writers Book of the Year. She has even won the American Christian Fiction Writers Mentor of the Year Award in the year 2009; she is a writing coach (getting nationally acclaimed for it).
“Take a Chance on Me” is the first novel in the “Christiansen Family” series and was released in the year 2013. Ivy Madison (new assistant county attorney) did not know any better, simple as that, when she bid on Darek while she was at the charity auction. She also does not know that she helped set the man free who was responsible for Felicity’s death. She gave Jensen Atwood community service in a plea bargain. She does know that the Christiansen family is what she has wanted in a family. She is able to get past Darek’s tough outer shell, she finds someone that she might be able to spend her life with. This is something that scares her just as much as Darek learning about Ivy’s being involved in the case of his wife’s.
Darek is caught between the old grudges and a new love, he has to figure out if he can move on and have a future with her. This is a future that is more and more at risk due to a wildfire that might wipe out both the Christiansen resort and the town of Deep Haven.
Fans of the novel were glad that they took a chance on the novel as they loved it. It takes your heart in its hand and holds it until the end of the book. Some cannot wait to read more by this author, as they got hooked on everything that happened inside the interesting family. Readers were able to read the book in just a few sittings, and it was so many due to the fact that they had a day job getting in the way of their reading of the book. This is a unique and fun family of characters that should be a blast getting to know them all.
“It Had to Be You” is the second novel in the “Christiansen Family” series and was released in the year 2014. Eden Christiansen has little time for her own career. This is due to her being her little brother, Owen’s, cheerleader. He is an NHL rookie and by looking after the reckless guy, it saps most of her time. It is good to feel needed, but still. She always wanted to make it as a reporter, but has to write obituaries and feels that she may not have the skills necessary to land a big story.
Eden needs someone to mentor Owen, but that is too much to ask from someone like Jace Jacobsen (the veteran on Owen’s team and a bad boy enforcer). Jace has built his name on the aggressive behavior that he puts on display both off and on the ice. He has found himself at a crossroads concerning his future playing hockey. He feels trapped by his reputation. Eden’s guilt trip does not help much. Owen gets careless and leads to an injury that puts his career in jeopardy. Eden finds a story that might just be her big break; she and Jace are thrust together. They might just belong on the same team, they start thinking.
Fans of the novel loved ever aspect of this novel, especially the way that Susan May Warren told such a great story. Fans found that this was a quick read, and you get to see the characters develop in such a wonderful way. Readers found that even if they had just picked up a book by this author, they would read more that she had written. It was that good. Some enjoy this series and find that this is a series to follow for many installments to come.
“When I Fall in Love” is the third novel in the “Christiansen Family” series and was released in the year 2014. Grace Christiansen never thought that she would go to Hawaii for a vacation, and she definitely did not think that she would fall in love there. Her family surprises her by taking her there on a cooking retreat while in paradise. She is taken away from her safe and predictable life and then thrown into adventure headfirst.
Max Sharpe may be a professional ice hockey player, but he enjoys cooking much more. That is why he lives for the three week a year culinary vacation he takes in Hawaii. He gets paired with Grace for a cooking contest. Max is drawn to the confidence, perseverance, and passion. She dares to dream of having a future beyond her hometown and Max pulls away.
Max fights with his inner demons and is against opening up his heart to someone that he loves and one he knows he should not hope for. Grace is there to hear his secrets and is torn between what she wants and the safe path she was going down. If having love means that she will have to give up a normal happily ever after, this will test her faith more than anything else.
Fans of the novel found that the characters feel so real and it is as though, just by reading about them, you get to know them. You get so caught up in their being developed and the story’s progress that by the end, you wonder why there is no more story to read. Readers found that they were gripped from the very first line and could not put the book down, they just had to read more and more of the book to find out what happens.

Emily I came here to find out the same thing! Please let us know!
I finished Ruby Jane and immediately started the RJ & Yorke series but it seems like I missed a book or two between them. Can somebody tell me which book that is, please?
Basically, yes. But that’s ok. They are all great no matter what order you read them in.
I just finished reading the three books of the Global Search and Rescue series. Should I have read the Montana Rescue series first? I thoroughly enjoyed the Global Rescue series! Looking forward to more of your writings.
