Susannah Nix
Susannah Nix, award-winning and bestselling author who lives in Texas. She is kept company by her two grumpy cats, her husband, and a “flatulent pit bull.” In between the writing of her STEM and swoon romances, she watches British mysteries on TV. Mx. Nix will also cook, knit, drink wine, and watch Ted Lasso over and over. To really impress us all, she’s a powerlifter and is said to be able to deadlift the weight of Captain America! (FYI: Chris Evans weighed in at swoon-worthy 240 pounds of buff muscles for his role of Captain America in 2011.)
Ms. Nix is well known for her STEM themed Chemistry Lessons series of books featuring intelligent working women and their lives as they cross paths with hot, attractive men that are real-live chemistry lessons in sexy suits.
The first fun outing in this series is Remedial Rocket Science. Melody Gage, college student craving a night of fun – no strings included, hooks up with hunky LA hottie Jeremy. Three years later Melody lands a dream job in Los Angeles at an aerospace company.
Her dream job flips to a potential nightmare when she realizes, Jeremy, her fling from three years ago works at the same company. Even worse, he’s the CEO’s son. Jeremy has a girlfriend and notorious bad-boy reputation so Melody is determined to keep her distance from him.
Best intentions are what’s being made while the fickle finger of fate decides to entertain itself at your expense. A coffee vs. computer disaster and a crying jag are topped off by an emergency fake date all conspire to throw her into the path of the steamy, sweet-smelling hunk of Jeremy.
Frequently orbiting each other, it creates the friction and tension generating a friendship between the IT girl and the rich CEO son. Melody has to admit to herself the attraction to Jeremy is gaining over her vow to not become attached. In all the right ways he absolutely wrong for her. This woman always made careful, calculated decisions and avoided risks; will she change for him?
Another fun series of Susannah Nix is the King Family books. #1 is My Cone and Only: A Small Town Brother’s Best Friend Romance. The whole series is set in the little country city of Crowder, Texas, home of the KING Creamery ice cream company with chilly puns and fresh fun. With six siblings seeking and fighting for love in the small town, there’s always drama.
Wyatt King knows who he loves. And in his head, she’s off limits. Andie is the little sister of his best friend and he’s not going to be a knuckehead and mess with her. So his feelings for Andie are tightly bottled up and he settles for protecting her like a big brother would.
Unfortunately for Wyatt, he’s never compared notes with Andie Lockhart! She’s fantasized about kissing Wyatt since she learned what kissing is. He’s dated everyone in town but her and keeps treating her like a baby sister. She’s sure she’ll never get a chance to tell him how she feels.
When Andie inherits a much loved old house from her grandmother, Wyatt charges in with his formidable handyman skills and rescues her and her house from the clutches of a real estate developer who’s threatening to tear it down and build over. The more time they spend together renovating the house, the more apparent it is there’s a huge attraction that’s becoming irresistible to either of them. The lid to those feelings that had been jammed on tight is blown off when an accidental kiss reveals how much they are attracted to each other.
Of course, it’s never that simple. Family secrets, broken promises, and forbidden love and jealousy conspire to tear them apart. Wyatt is going to have to go all in and lay it out if he intends to keep the woman her loves.
Each book in the KING Family series is a fine standalone story, but a reader will enjoy following along through the stories of the King siblings in their search and struggles to find love in the little Texas town.
Ms. Nix did an interview with Voyage Houston, a local news outlet with focus on Houston arts, fashion, and news. She talked about how she got started as an award-winning author. Her initial writing experience was working in public relations and advertising. When she became a stay-at-home mom she continued to write in her spare time. She tried writing various disparate genres like paranormal mysteries, screenplays, epic fantasy, and historical fiction. She finally settled on what was the most pleasurable- romance stories.
Like a lot of moms, once the nest is empty, she started to pursue her writing and publishing seriously. After attending a Romance Writers of America meeting, she learned about the benefits and autonomy of self-publishing through Kindle Direct Publishing. She now has several novels available through Kindle Unlimited.
Ms. Nix is particularly proud of the 2019 RITA Contemporary Romance: Mid-Length award for her Chemistry Lessons #3, Advanced Physical Chemistry. [The RITA Award WAS the most prominent award for English-language romance fiction from 1990 to 2019. It was presented by the Romance Writers of America (RWA). The purpose of the RITA Award was to promote excellence in the romance genre by recognizing outstanding published novels and novellas. Due to scandals at the administrative level, the RITA was abolished after 2019 season.]
Ms. Nix credits her husband for being her biggest fan and best supporter from the very first. Like a good helpmate, he keeps her fed and coffeed when she’s against a deadline. She also has close friends that have been critique readers and cheerleaders.
