Sydney Jane Bailey is a USA Today bestselling author of historical romance fiction set in Victorian and Regency England, the Georgian era, the Middle Ages, and late 19th century America.
The author was born to first-generation British American parents from either end of London which perhaps explains her love for romances set in historical England. Bailey was born and brought up in California where she earned degrees in History and English at universities on the East Coast.

She would then travel the world and spent a lot of time in the United Kingdom having fun times with her extended family, snacking on Cadbury bars and Maltesers, drinking shandies, and eating fish and chips.
Sydney Jane Bailey published “An Improper Situation” her debut novel and the first of the “Defiant Hearts” series of novels in 2012. She now has more than three dozen works to her name among them several series, collections of short stories, single-standing novels, and contributions to series by other authors.

She currently makes her home in New England with her family. She loves to hear from her readers and usually interacts with them in her newsletter, where she provides updates on upcoming books and bonus chapters on already published novels.

Growing up, Sydney Jane Bailey loved reading, and her favorite novels were “Charlotte’s Web” and “James and the Giant Peach.”

In her teenage years, she spent many of her summers in London with her grandparents. They used to have stacks of Mills and Boon romances in addition to Barbara Cartland’s historical and contemporary romances.

By the time she was 17, she wrote her first romance novel and by the time she was eighteen, she had her first rejection. Given her love for writing and history, she decided to pursue studies in English and History when she went to college.
She was also inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa alpha chapter before graduating with an English literature master’s degree. After graduating from college, she found employment in publishing and worked as an editor and in book production.
Once she published her debut novel and it became a success she has never looked back. She has now become a USA Today bestselling author and is now a full-time writer.

On a personal note, Sydney Jane Bailey is also a huge lover of making desserts and eating them. When she is not writing her bestselling novels, she can be found scouring the internet looking for old English food recipes.
She also likes red wine since white wine tends to make her weepy and tired. She also loved dogs, cats, and chocolate and can eat Maltesers at any time of day.

“Lord Anguish” by Sydney Jane Bailey is the story of the Earl of Cambrey Lord John Angsley. Of all the ladies in London, he is unable to stay away from Miss Blackwood and he cannot understand why she tickles his fancy.
