This has led to scores of readers finding something within his work, leading to him becoming one of the most highly regarded writers in his field on a worldwide scale. Over the years this has also led to him writing a number of ongoing series as well, with many readers returning time and time again.
Knowing exactly where he’s taking his readers, he brings them on a journey, allowing them to invest themselves both the story and the action. Getting to the heart of his subject matter too, he definitely has something to say as well, really allowing his themes and ideas to be brought to the forefront. With a lot more to come yet, he is definitely a writer to watch in the following years to come, with a lot more planned for release on the horizon.
Early and Personal Life
When TJ Klune was just eight years of age, he would come to write his very own story, which would be his own epic version of the video-game Super Metroid. He would go on and continue this passion for the written word throughout the intervening years, building upon his love of the craft with passion. It would also see him become highly adept and refining and honing his style, which would be the approach that people would know him for.
During the day he works as a claims examiner for an insurance company, which he comes home from to write full-time as well. Taking inspiration from his own life too, he manages to bring new and exciting ideas from the world around him and his own outlook on it. Turning to writing full-time now though, he has plenty of opportunities to carry on improving in the future, building upon his profile and his career as a whole.
Writing Career
It would be in 2011 that TJ Klune would release his first novel, as he would publish the title ‘Bear, Otter and the Kid’, which would also feature in a series of the same name. Following this he would also bring out a variety of other series too, as they would also feature many themes and ideas for which Klune would become famous for, including a fantasy series as well. These would include ‘Tales From Verania’, along with ‘Green Creek’ and ‘At First Sight’, which clearly display his versatility as an author. Winning awards for his writing as well, Klune would go on to win the Lambda Literary Award for the Best Gay Romance, along with Amazon choosing him as having written one of the best GLBT books during 2011. This has led to him becoming an extremely prominent and sought after voice, which he will continue to be for a long time yet.
The Art of Breathing
First published through the ‘Dreamspinner Press’ publishing label, this would initially come out on the 15th of June in 2014. Setting up the third title in the ongoing ‘Bear, Otter, and the Kid’ series of books, it carries on from the previous books with another instalment. Allowing the characters to really flourish, it develops them, along with the surrounding world of the series as well.
As a highly acclaimed author of gay romance, this really exemplifies what it is that TJ Klune is all about as a writer. Making the most of his subject matter, it definitely takes the series itself in a whole new direction, breathing new life into it overall. With an engrossing storyline which really pulls the reader in, it provides them with a slice-of-life that feels extremely real and authentic in equal measure. The setting is also brilliantly realized too, creating an almost intimate feel to what has come before, with a sense of familiarity to it all.
Graduating from high-school at the young age of just sixteen, Tyson Thompson has managed to put the town of Seafare in Oregon behind him. Returning home once more he attempts to get his life back in order, something which his brother and guardian Bear, along with his brother’s husband Otter, both approve of. That’s when Tyson comes into contact with his childhood friend and very first love, Dominic Miller, as he once again finds himself revisiting the past. This opens up a whole world of old wounds, ones which he never thought he’d visit again, as he attempts to come to terms with the past. Will he manage to come to terms with it all? What will he find after returning home? Can he truly learn the art of breathing?
The Consumption of Magic
Coming out through the ‘Dreamspinner Press’ publishing house once more, this was released in 2017 on the 20th of November. Marking the third title in the long-running ‘Tales From Verania’ series of novels, it really manages to build upon the premise introduced in the first two titles. It also manages to create a turning point for many of the characters too, evolving them and, essentially, moving them forwards.
Living to see another day after facing the Dark Wizard of Myrin, Sam of Wilds has found himself to be battle scarred following it all. Things could definitely be worse though, and he realizes this once he meets up with Randall and Morgan of Shadows once again. This is all because the scars have been given meaning, which intimates at Myrin’s true plans that he has in-store for the Kingdom of Verania and Sam in particular. With his band of misfits, Sam sets about travelling to the Dark Woods of the North, journeying to its center in order to convince the dragons there to stand as one against Myrin one final time. Will he manage to persuade them in aiding him in his quest against the evil? Can he make the dangerous journey in one piece? How will he fare with the consumption of magic?
