Author T. W. Brown lives in the Pacific Northwest with Aoife (which is his dog, whose name is pronounced EYE-fa) and Denise (which is his wife). He has a growing amount of aquariums with many kinds of fish in them and a collection of guitars.

His favorite part of the year is football season when he roots for the Seattle Seahawks and the Oregon Ducks. He is a fan of Kiss (which is his favorite band), Cookie Monster, and Dr. Who; as well as just about everything that is British.

One of the reasons he writes is due to his love of a good story, which is something that drives him. He also wants his readers to feel certain things when he writes, as they get lost in something he’s written for about an hour. Once they finish something he has written, he wants them to want even more from him.

Billie Sue Mossiman, RA Salvatore, Laurel K Hamilton, Jasper Fforde, and Kim Harrison are authors that do this for him. “The Stand” (which he finds is the best story ever told), George R. R. Martin’s “Song of Ice and Fire” series, “Post-Birthday World”, and “The Time Traveler’s Wife” are books he really enjoyed by author’s that are not listed.

Besides Kiss, he also enjoys listening to Van Halen (only the original line up), Nickelback, Manhattan Transfer, Sarah McLachlin, Matchbox 20. While writing, he likes to listen to Holst, Mozart, and Future Sounds of London (which makes for the perfect music to write zombie stories to).

“The Ugly Beginning” is the first novel in the “Dead” series and was released in the year 2010. It is unthinkable, but the dead are actually walking. The fragile thread that humanity has been living off of for many years, could be reaching the bitter end.

Groups and individuals keep struggling to survive, and some are doing whatever it takes to keep on living. Is anyone going to be left? Or is this just the start?

Fans of the novel fond this to be at the top of their list for zombie apocalypse novels. Some readers hope the sequels to this book live up to the promise that this book had. These are compelling enough characters that you seem to always get attached, even if they get killed just a page later; no matter what, you never seem to learn not to get attached to anyone either. Every single character in the book, good or bad, feels quite real and true to life.

“Revelations” is the second novel in the “Dead” series and was released in the year 2011. After the zombies rise, there is nothing but chaos in the world. Small groups of survivors are still trying to survive each and everyday. The good and the bad of humanity fight off the undead and each other as they each come to accept the current and ugly reality.

Steve is trying to lead a group of survivors, while trying to take care of a young Hispanic orphan female. Watch a group of zombie geeks go through an apocalypse, which they say is a lot different than simply watching one on television.

These are books some readers keep on finishing in just a single sitting. It has a fascinating story that keeps readers hooked and wanting more and more from. Fans of the novel liked the many different points of view aspect in these books, as each and every character has a different experience going through this apocalypse. Readers also like the way that the focus is more on the humans and how they react to this apocalypse, rather than just killing zombies.

“Fortunes and Failures” is the third novel in the “Dead” series and was released in the year 2011. Steve has seen himself at his worst, he has also seen others at their worst, too. It would seem that zombies are just one of the threats to him and his people. Is he going to lose his loved ones to a killer or zombies?

Kevin is the final geek standing, and after a reunion with one of his old acquaintances, he is back in charge of a group of survivors. Is he going to find redemption? Or is he going to fail at the one and only thing that he believed he was ready for?

Fans are going to keep reading all of these books, for as long as Brown writes them. It is rare to see emotional characters in such a genre, but Brown does a great job writing heart rending, melt down in anger, and funny parts in the book. He is a top notch writer that gives the much scoffed at zombie genre some credibility. Fans of the novel find that once they finish a book in this series, they have to get right into the very next one. They are just that good, and the “Dead” series is at the top of the zombie fiction genre.

“Winter” is the fourth novel in the “Dead” series and was released in the year 2012. Winter is almost here, right at a time when the survivors are just starting to get back on their feet with all the zombies around. They are facing a brand new problem, the seasons continue to march on and do not pay any attention to how fragile humans are. Winter one of the zombie apocalypse is about here.

Up in the mountains (which are located in northeastern Oregon), Steve and his group get settled in. They find something though that could bring them to their knees before the winter has a chance to. Kevin faces down something from his past and tries to keep his group unified.

In other places in the world, a group of scientists are trying to work up a cure for this virus. There is a new pharaoh in Egypt. Chad finds out that he will do anything so that he can keep his daughter safe. Juan fights internally with himself about his past, which is telling him that he is unfit for love and to lead. There is a military unit that is trying to keep order by any means necessary.

After much waiting, fans are glad to have more from this fantastic series. Once they finally got a hold of it, they read it in just under one day.
