About Taki Drake
An American author of imaginative and mind-bending genre shifting science-fiction, Taki Drake really has a grasp of the form. Early and Personal Life:
Growing up, Taki Drake always had a strong and inventive imagination, something which she would put back into her work as writer over time. Constantly looking for new and exciting ideas, she’d always be seeking inspiration for her next story, as she’d continue to develop her craft. This would develop from an early age, on into her adult career, as she’d soon find herself going on to write full-time.

Over the years, she’d refine and hone her voice as a writer, constantly looking to build upon her themes and plots. These would contain ever more ambitious ideas and narrative arcs, but she’d always manage to keep it contained and accessible. With a lot more to follow, there’s plenty more titles planned on the horizon too, with her writing career growing from strength-to-strength.

Writing Career:
Publishing her first debut release in 2016, Taki Drake would come on to the literary scene with the title ‘We Are Not Prey’. This would also be the first in ‘The Unfettered Mage’ series of novels, as two would follow on from it over the next few years. She would also go on to create a number of other series, including ‘Familiar Magic’ and ‘Standard of Honor’ to name but a few.

Often she would write alongside other writers as well, most notably TS Paul, who would also recommend her with the series ‘Becoming Sephera’ which she’d continue. This would then see her develop into her own author over time, as she’d become a distinctive writer with something to say. Winning much acclaim too, she’s fast becoming recognized as a major writer within her field, as more continue to discover her work worldwide.

Fleet of the Mage
First brought out through the ‘All Chaos Press’ publishing house, this would be the second title in the ‘Unfettered Mage’ series. Carrying on from where the last one left off, which was titled ‘We Are Not Prey’, this would offer another direction for the franchise. Originally published on the 15th of December in 2017, it would give readers what they wanted and more, with some unique twists.

With a lot of atmosphere and ambiance, Take Drake really upped the stakes here, taking the action to a whole new level. The leading protagonist of Ruth Cavanaugh is definitely tested to the limit, as her world is thrown into turmoil, fully challenging her. It’s an extremely engaging world, and one that Drake has spared no expense with when it comes to building and development.

Everything has changed for Ruth Cavanaugh the mage, with her entire world being flipped upside down, sending her into new unknown territory. She’s overcome so much, dealing with all manner of difficulty, as she’s survived not only slavery, but a drastic transformation too. Now she just wants peace, but that’s a little difficult after being taken from the arms of the one she loved and thrown across the cosmos. Can she ever find her way back to where she once was? Where is the home she once knew? What will become of the fleet of the mage?

Mage and Mate
Initially released through the ‘All Chaos Press’ publishing imprint again, this would be the third book in the ‘Unfettered Mage’ series. Following on from the previous two, this was first published on the 25th of August in 2019, with it being another epic story. Featuring magic and aliens, it again combines fantasy and science-fiction, as it travels across the universe with its unique tale.

As the third part this really makes the most of the premise, pushing it ever forwards, really surprising the reader along the way. This is a huge development for the Unfettered Mage series too, with some startling revelations that definitely catch the audience off-guard. The character of Ruth Cavanaugh is also well drawn, as she feels fully three-dimensional, and not just a caricature.

Surviving all manner of dangers, Ruth Cavanaugh is one mage who has seen everything, from alien magic, to her own terrifying transformation. Currently based on an alien planet herself, Ruth attempts to center herself and find some peace amidst all the chaos. This may prove to be a little difficult though, as her enemies begin to surround her, closing in from all angles at an alarming rate. Will she be able to make sense of it all and keep her head above water? Can she come to terms with her own powers? What will become of the mage and mate?
