Author Thorne was born on November 20, 1957, in Los Angeles, California. She made her debut in the field of novel writing in 1991 with a novel called Winter Scream. She wrote this book as Chris Curry. Thorne’s books are equally published under her original name and her pen name. A number of her books have appeared on bestseller lists, both nationally and internationally. Thorne has wide popularity in the horror genre. The Los Angeles Times has stated that Thorne’s books are set in the made-up burgs in Los Angeles’ edges. However, the Californians consider that her settings sound more like Redlands, California, where many Hollywood stars have lived. One of her books, Moonfall, resembles Oak Green closely. The Horror Zine has described author Thorne has ‘a bestselling writer between 1991 & 2002. The LA Times has described Thorne as a successful practitioner of terror.

To give Thorne a tribute for her contributions in the field of literature, British horror writer Graham Masterton has named one of his characters in his novel Forest Ghost after Thorne. Author Thorne says that she began writing when she was very small. At that time, she used to write mostly science fiction stories. At the age of eleven, Thorne came across Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson. This set her in the course of writing horror stories. These days, her haunting research for developing novels has brought her another career, that is, investigating for the individuals having problems. The people close to Thorne believe that her passion for writing is lifelong, just like her fascination with mythology, occult, folklore, and paranormal. The novels written by Thorne range from simple ghost tales to stories of conspiracies, elemental forces, witchcraft, vampires, and UFOs. No matter what topic Thorne chooses to write, the readers will always find ghost lurking here and there.

One author with whom Thorne collaborated frequently is Alistair Cross. They continue to write together, even today. Whether writing independently or collaborating, there is no shortage of blood, sex, spookiness, and humor in Thorne’s stories. During his research activities and investigations, Thorne has come across many odd things in the last 20 years. Being open-minded and skeptic, Thorne has spoken to numerous paranormal groups. She has even appeared on a TV show called Ghost Adventures. Recently, Alistair and Thorne undertook a 5-day investigation in a haunted cabin in Gold Country, California. Their findings inspired them to write The Cliffhouse Haunting. Thorne has made appearances on several radio programs and in many newspapers in relation to topics based on local lore and haunted places. She is also a trained journalist and contributes ghost stories to a series of newspapers in California. Thorne claims that her first has always been telling ghost stories and she intends to keep it that way until her last breath.

A popular novel series written by author Tamara Thorne is known as the Sorority series. It is comprised of three books, all of which were released in 2003. This series takes place in an isolated and exclusive university called Greenbriar University. This university contains a sorority group known as the Gamma Eta Pi and within this group there is another secret group called Fata Morgana. The members of this secret group are considered most powerful on the entire campus. This deadly group is seen as a sisterhood full of evil. Any girl joining the group pledges to serve the wicked decadence for her whole life. Several central characters mentioned by Thorne in this series include Eve Camlan, Malory Thomas, Merilynn Morris, Samantha Penrose, etc. The debut book of this horror series is entitled ‘The Sorority: Eve’. It was released by the Pinnacle Books. Initially, Eve is depicted as having no idea as to why she feels attracted to the run-down, rambling sorority house at the University of Greenbriar. She feels that something about the group’s sultry president name Malory Thomas compels her.

When Malory presents her the chance to join Fata Morgana, Eve jumps at the opportunity of becoming a part of the powerful circle. It is only later that she learns about the dangerous reality of the group. Eve realizes that the group is more sinister than it looks and is full of unimaginable sin, dark magic, murder, and sexual depravity. Eve wonders if she will have to pay the membership cost with her soul as evil not only has its presence in the place, but also thrives.

The second installment of this series is called ‘The Sorority: Merilynn’. This book opens by introducing Merilynn Morris as a dreamy and mystical old soul. She possesses the special gift of seeing things before they actually happen. With the help of her psychic abilities, Merilynn discovers that powerful darkness is at work inside the sorority. Her feeling intensifies when Malory invites her to become a member of Fata Morgana. As Merilynn is drawn into the unnatural circle of the sisterhood, she begins to see frightening dreams every night. When she starts seeing more evil in her dreams, Merilynn wonders if the visions are from the past or a warning of the bad things about to happen in the near future. This book received a lot of praise and appreciation from readers in different parts of the world. The fans of horror stories liked this novel very much and praised the efforts of author Thorne in coming up with such a unique story.
