Taylor Stevens who is an author was born in New York, USA.He was raised up in a very infamous cult by that time called children of God. The members believed that they were chosen by God. Nowadays, the cult is called Family international and was founded by David Berg. While she was growing up in the cult, the author experienced a nomadic life where she bounced from one city to another, living in conditions which were cramped and impoverished. At the age of three she had resided in California, Georgia ,Colorado, Florida and Texas. At age of 14 she had gone to Europe and lived in countries like Germany, Austria ,Mexico, France, Switzerland, south Korea and japan. Their home was a trailer that was parked in camp with fellow disciples.

The cult leadership wanted its followers to have no job;not to maintain a nuclear family; to change sexual partners without birth control and not to stay in one place for a long period. Children experienced sexual abuse from the adults. The author with his fellow young members of the cult were not allowed to mix with other locals except when soliciting for donations on the streets. Female members of the cult were prostituted to earn money for the church. Children were responsible of doing a lot of work which included cooking, taking care of children and cleaning. All the property was communal.

Unlike many authors, Steven did not attend higher education related to creative writings. She attended school sporadically until grade six when she was separated from her parent and siblings. At grade her education process came to an end completely. At age of 15, she among others went to beg on the streets of Osaka during winter where they were ignored by many due to their cult. The author was only educated on the rudiments of readings. The cult did not allow them to have books, dictionaries, movies or music. Steven had a micro-cassette recorder which she could keep it at low volume. As a young teenager, the author secretly entertained the commune children with a lot of fantastic stories that took them through time and space, until the sins she was committing were founded by cult leaders. Many of her laboriously hand-written articles were confiscated and burned and she was ordered never to write any fiction again.

When she was in the age of twenties she broke free from the cult. Leaving everything she knew brought a fresh beginning to her. She tried all she can to avoid going to grave with regrets. She divorced her husband whom she met in the cult and nowadays reside together with her two daughters outside Dallas, Texas where she is developing her third volume of information series. Through trial and error method, she had taught herself the craft and gift of storytelling which made her to be the way she is today.

In the late 1990s, her church went through a periodic upheavals. Some members of the cult defected from this cult. Due to this ,people were given freedom to choose about where to go next. Stevens who was at age of 24 at the time and wished to make a lot of difference in the world, chose Africa. She started in Kenya, but in order to remove herself from cult leaders, she ended up in country called Equatorial Guinea where she among other cult members brought about a nonprofit making organization which brought in educational and medical facilities. By then, she was married to European gentleman with whom she did not have great romantic chemistry. Steven argues that they got into relationship because they were the only two in the area who were of the same age . Equatorial Guinea turned out as a least hospitable places to work for Steven. She was traumatized by Africa the same way as when she was being raised in a cult.In Africa complaining in public was a ticket to prison. She tried to fight gossip and corruption but all was in vain. Much of her experience in writing was drawn from this country where much of the novel writing took place.

Recently, Ms Steven wrote a novel by the name “The Informationist” which was published by Crown. The series is a globe-trotting thriller which is centered on Vanessa Munroe who is multilingual expert in information gathering. As per the series Vanessa Munroe is hired to track down a missing daughter of a Houston businessman in Africa. She depicts her village life in African state called Equatorial Guinea using strangely compelling characters traits like androgynous Munroe who sometimes do appear in public dressed like a man. The book cover the inner life of a heroine who transformed her own story from tragedy to triumph. Stevens herself survived and prevailed many challenges from her childhood to adulthood and now she is a successive lady.

The author has written a second book featuring almost the same character. The book is titled “The Innocent,” and is already finished. The innocent will be published soon.
