Vimbai has always felt fine about her status and never had a problem with her job or her life. Things have been smooth sailing for a long time, and there’s no reason why that shouldn’t continue. But when a man named Dumisani is hired to work at the salon, it throws her for a loop.

Dumisani is not only handsome and very easy to look at, but he’s also very charming in his own way. He’s the type that is a smooth talker and while she initially does not want to be around him all that much and resists his appeal, it is not too long before something gives. But is this man’s talents and his personality too good to be true? Vimbai is starting to discover that the closer that the two of them get, the more that she cares about him.

Their friendship has become so important to Vimbai, but will the talented stylist end up getting burned? Dumisani is a guy that she connects with, but she may find out that the two of them have very different motivations and are different people in the end.

Can they manage to stay friends or will their relationship crumble under fate or the bad actions of Dumisani? Will the hairdresser be able to keep her peaceful world or will she find that in a modernizing Zimbabwe she too must adapt to become tougher and not let people take advantage of her? Meanwhile, each of the men is trying to find their own place in Britain, and they all are attempting to do it in different ways. He wanders through Edinburgh on his own, looking for nothing in particular but bringing music with him wherever he goes.

Then there is the guy known as The Maestro. He’s been quite down for some time and is always seeming to be tired. He’s making his way out of reality and trying to deal with everything going using literature and escaping into fantasy. It’s one of the best ways that he has when it comes to dealing with the exhausting nature of the world, but Maestro is almost certainly depressed and has to contend with his own quixotic nature along the way.

Then there is the youthful man known only as The Mathematician. He is different from the others in that he has plenty of energy, and he also chooses to move to the beat of his own drummer. He lives a freewheeling lifestyle that is often unburdened with cares, but can the man keep up this hedonistic lifestyle forever?

These three men are about to find out what happens when each of their individual realities come together and collide. Can they find value in each other or will they continue to struggle on their own with life? Will coming across the paths of the others end up changing them and setting each of the men free? Read this fascinating second novel from T.L. Huchu to find out!
