Terri Blackstock was born on 1957 in the small town of Belleville, Illinois. When she was only eleven years old, her entire family transferred to Mississippi. She completed her schooling and also attended junior college over there. Right from her childhood, she was always a very bright student and was very fond of books. She used to spend most of her free time by visiting the library and reading books. After that, she headed to Northeast Louisiana University to complete her Bachelor’s degree. It was in 1983 when she decided to write her first book. Initially, she started by writing only romance related novels.

She initially wrote the novels under the name of Tracy Hughes or Terri Harrington. The first novel she wrote under her original name was Never Say Goodbye. It was quite a success and inspired her to write even more. After that, she went on to write thirty more romantic novels for different publishers. However in 1994, she had a sudden change of mind. She changed her genre because of her sudden change in beliefs. She wished that she wrote only the truth and confesses that she would happily go back in the past and delete all her romance novels.

Her amazing writing style has earned her lots of awards and recognition’s throughout her successful career. She constantly featured in different best selling lists. Her romantic novel, ” A Secret Stirring” earned her the Golden Medallion Finalist award in 1986. She also regularly featured in numerous TV shows like ” Home life”. She also appeared as a guest in many radio programs. Her journey to the top has also been captured in many books by famous authors like Mike Nappa and Ace Collins.

She also has three children who lives in Mississippi. When she is not busy writing, she takes acre of all the activities of her children. She also volunteers in many church activities.

The Restoration Series is one of the best series written by Terri Blackstock. The first book of the series is ” Last Light”. The book is about a crisis that hits the world and takes the planet back to a time where there were no electricity. Doug Branning and his daughter Deni just got out of their plane in Alabama, when suddenly the power goes out. Initially, they thought that it was just a regular power outrage. But, then planes started dropping from the sky and the entire highway became jammed. They realized that it was much more serious than a normal power failure. Violence erupted in the town as every people fought for bikes in Walmart to reach their home. However, the situation turned worse when people started killing each other and looting all the stores and the vehicles. Deni and her young sister Beth, found the bodies of Beth’s teacher and her husband. All the modern day facilities were lost, they just have to count on each other to survive the situation. When an entire family along with their son is found dead in their home, everyone initially suspected a black man in the neighborhood. Many people were also suspicious of a doctor who lived in the neighborhood, Doug Branning thought that perhaps this was his opportunity to save his entire neighborhood and become a hero. However, it was a highly difficult task. He needed the cooperation of all the people to get out of his situation.

Terri Blackstock has managed to create an extremely scary atmosphere. Her description of the entire situation is extremely strong and maybe you will be forced to check whether your computer is working or not. It is mainly a character driven book. She has managed to introduce us to different kinds of characters and how they react in an emergency. She has brilliantly portrayed how a tough situation can successfully bring out the good and as well as the bad in you. Although it is mainly character driven, the pace is quite fast and will keep the reader engaged at all times. In short, Last Night was a great book and a fantastic introduction to the series. It is one of the most thought provoking novels ever written by Terri Blackstock. It lays the perfect foundation for the series and you will desperately want to read the next book as early as possible.

” Night Light” is the second book of the Restoration series. The situation is slowly getting out of hand, there has been no electricity for the past few months. entire town is struggling for existence. All the bank accounts are frozen and no one has any money to buy any food. They are forced to dig wells to collect water, and also introduced barter system to exchange clothes, foods and other items. In order to get rid of the problem, regular meetings were held by the river between all the people of the community. Families who barely talked with each other before must now work together to survive. Theft and robberies also increased because of shortage of food. There was one such robbery in Branning’s house. They caught the robbers and found that they were a group of four little brothers, the eldest one was just nine years old. Their mother had left and so they had to survive by themselves. Even though he had a large family to feed, but Branning decided to help them. They tried to reach their grandparents and sent a letter to them. But the postal system was overloaded and they had no idea when the letter will reach its destination. However, after some days their grandparents arrived at their door.

Terri Blackstock has successfully managed to keep the story going. The character development continues in the second book and that atmosphere of suspense still remains. The generosity of the Branning family and their willingness to help others in the toughest of situations shows us the good side of humans. It has an element of mystery because it tells us the past of the chilrend and also introduces us to some new characters. In short, it is a great book which adds some more suspense and mystery to the series.

I saw on the back of Shadow of Doubt that to look for your new book, False Witness, but I can’t find that title anywhere on the websites. Did you rename it? Is it part of one of the series?
    Thank you for wonderful books!!!

Rebecca- I read the Newpointe 911 series and absolutely loved them. I too, went to my library looking for False Witness, but the next book was actually named, Word of Honor, and it fell right in line with the other books, so I feel like she just changed the title before publishing.

      Hope this helps.
