Thomas Fincham is a published Canadian author of fiction. It is the pen name used by Mobashar Qureshi.
Fincham or Qureshi was born November 4, 1978. He was born in Nigeria in Benin City, living for a short time with his family in Karachi, Pakistan. They then moved and the family resided in Canada.
The author would attend the University of Toronto, where he graduated with his degree in the field of economics. Qureshi was picked by Quill & Quire as one of their top ten rising mystery writers in Canada to watch in November of 2007. The author is married and continues to reside in Toronto, Canada, in a house that is a hundred years old.
He has traveled throughout much of the world, which he says has given him the opportunity to appreciate other beliefs and cultures. He has also lived in many different places, from North America to Asia and Africa.
Qureshi has always been a big reader and loved reading mystery stories as well as thrillers. As such a big reader, it was only a matter of time before he decided to try writing himself. Once he started, he says that he has discovered his calling. He has also had his novels and a number of short stories published since then. One of his first novels, The Blue Hornet, came out in 2010. He would follow that up with The October Five and then The Paperboys Club and Killing Them Gently in 2015.
He is also known for writing several series. These include the Hyder Ali series, the Martin Rhodes series, the Echo Rose series, and the Lee Callaway series.
Thomas Fincham is the creator and the author of the Hyder Ali series of fictional novels. This series started with the publication of the debut novel, The Silent Reporter. This was followed by the sequel’s publication, The Rogue Reporter. That was followed by the third novel, The Runaway Reporter, and then The Serial Reporter, The Street Reporter, and The Student Reporter.
The Silent Reporter is the first novel in the Hyder Ali series by Thomas Fincham. In this book, readers get the chance to meet Hyder Ali for the first time.
Hyder Ali is Muslim and American and works as a reporter. He is employed by the Daily Times, and now he’s on a sudden search to find out the truth. This is a case that really hits home when he starts looking into the circumstances behind the passing of his professor. But while on the look out for what really happened, he might just find himself entering into a world of conspiracy that might be larger than he ever thought possible.
Eric Freeland was not just a professor to Hyder but a mentor too. When he is found inside his house hanging and definitely dead, it’s a huge blow to all those who knew him. He has a daughter, and Jessica comes to Hyder looking to see if he can help her. She doesn’t believe that this is a simple cut and dry case of killing himself. Jessica thinks that Eric was murdered.
The Freeland case is assigned to Detective Tom Nolan, who may not end up doing much. He’s a man that has a severe drinking problem. As an alcoholic, he is more prone to being inside of a bar passing the time than actively getting out there to solve the case. It looks like Hyder is going to have to take things into his own hands.
Can Jessica, Hyder, and Nolan find out what happened in this gruesome case? It appears to be suicide, but if his daughter is right, then there is something much darker going on here than suicide. Who would have had the motive to kill Eric Freeland? Can the reporter or the detective or even the professor’s daughter discover what’s going on? Read this book to find out!
The Rogue Reporter is the second novel in the Hyder Ali series by Thomas Fincham. If you liked the first story, then be sure to check out the action packed and suspenseful second installment of this series featuring main character Hyder Ali.
Hyder is back to go over a case that might just be more personal than ever. Dangerous and confusing, this truth seeker and reporter is willing to do whatever it takes to get the story and maybe even solve a case.
When a strange case pops up, it gets everyone’s attention. In this instance, a foreign scientist is at work when something goes horribly wrong. Not only was he murdered, but there are nails all over his body. While no one immediately knows who did it, it’s clear that this was a brutal way to go.
Hyder is immediately on top of things. The Muslim-American reporter is covering the story, trying to find out more about what’s going on. Then another reporter slides in and steals his story.
He’ll do anything for a story, but how far will he really go? Hyder Ali is about to see his own personal ethics system put to the test. Just how far and how competitive will he get to win a story? Would he compromise his own beliefs?
Things are getting complicated quickly, and they show no sign of letting up soon. Meanwhile, Detective Tom Nolan is in the mix. He’s doing all that he can to try and avoid drinking. But staying sober is always tough when you’re addicted to alcohol. When he gets put onto the scientist’s murder case and is paired up with an FBI agent, it’s temptation in full swing.
Can Nolan keep it together long enough to solve this case and let his stress levels go down? Or will the ambitious reporters get to the answers before he does? A horrible murder soon is revealing itself to be something else entirely. When a member of Hyder’s family gets mixed up with what’s going on, things get even more complex.
Can the reporter get to the bottom of what’s going on before he gets burned? Will the other reporter get the scoop first and all of the glory? What did happen in the scientist’s death? Get a copy of this book to find out!
