An American author of mystery and crime novels, the novelist Tim Baker is a master of building suspense and tension. Knowing exactly what it is that his audience are looking for he has a gift of being able to hook them in from the very first page. With a fast pace to his narratives as well, he wastes no time in getting straight to the heart of the action, whilst not sacrificing character or narrative along the way.

Early and Personal Life

Born in Warwick, Rhode Island, the American author Tim Baker would always be interested in both reading and writing. Showing a passion for the form from a very early age, he would continue to progress as a novelist throughout the subsequent years. This would lead to him becoming a full-time author and writer, allowing him to follow his dream and write about what he loves.

Working on his literary style throughout his education too, he would focus himself on both him and his craft. This is something that he would carry on developing over the following years, as he managed to create a style all of his very own. In time this would gradually build towards him becoming far more proficient in writing long-form narratives set firmly within the thriller mold.

Setting a lot of his work on Flagler Beach in Florida, America, he has a clear affinity with the area, which is reflected in his work. Prior to becoming a full-time writer he held a variety of jobs, all of which gave him the experience that he required for taking his career forwards. Learning a lot more about his style and his craft, he would constantly be putting these experiences back into his work, all of them inspiring him along the way.

Living in America he still continues to write to this very day, putting out work at a regular and consistent pace. Understanding his craft as well as the audience, he is clearly know working within his element, showing confidence as a full-time writer. This is expected to continue on into the foreseeable future for quite some time to come, as his writing career grows from strength-to-strength.

Writing Career

Bringing out his first novel back in 2009, the author to be Tim Baker made his debut onto the literary scene with the title ‘Living the Dream’. Ostensibly a crime novel with humorous underpinnings, it managed to immediately capture the attention of the reading public at large. This was later followed up by ‘Blood in the Water’ and ‘No Good Deed’, both of them being written in 2016.

Mainly focusing on the mystery thriller novel for much of his career, Baker has made it his own through his warm sense of wit and humor. Allowing the characters and the stories to shine, he brings them all to life with his own unique personality and style. This really allows the reader to build a real feeling of connection with his writing and his overall work, letting it speak to them on an individual level.

With a lot of fans amassing behind his work, he also has a lot of critics too, many of whom are also singing his praises. Getting recognition within the community about being one to watch, he’s making a name for himself as an author with a lot to offer. Knowing himself and who he is he has managed to maintain a key presence both online and off too, something which he also continues to sustain.

Over the years a lot of readers have warmed to his work on a global scale, and this is mostly due to his use of universally friendly themes. Taking ideas that are accessible to everyone, he makes his work really resonate with all types of readers, regardless of where they’re from. Keeping his audience constantly hooked throughout, he tell stories on a very real and equally very human level.

Building his profile and his reputation in general, he continues to expand upon his portfolio of work overall. This has seen him become a far more prolific voice within the community, as he has many readers discovering his work from far and wide. Over time his presence and profile will grow, as there’s plenty more titles set to come, something which doesn’t appear to be stopping any time soon.

Living the Dream

Brought out through the ‘Dog Ear Publishing’ label in 2009, this wasn’t to be a part of any series, but it was to be Baker’s first novel. Released on the 13th of July it managed to set-up his career, allowing him to make a name for himself with this fun and humorous crime caper. It would also allow him to establish his style, giving his many readers a clear idea of what to expect in the books to follow.

Kurt is somewhat of a loser living a sad existence, which is when he arrives at the idea of managing a kidnapping to turn everything around. That’s when Vicky, the woman he intends to kidnap, is away, whilst Jimmy, her husband, is thinking of leaving her anyway. This then means that he’s unlikely to pay the ransom, whilst Leslie, Jimmy’s mistress, also wants a cut of whatever Kurt is hoping to get. Will Kurt really go through with it? How did it become so difficult? Is he really living the dream?

Blood in the Water

Another stand-alone title, this was initially released on the 26th of September in 2016 to much acclaim this time. Published through the Kindle platform primarily, this would show a clear development in style and tone since his first. Still following a fun pace, though, it manages to retain a lot of that playful energy that made his debut so entertaining to read.

Bob Oscarson, or Oscar, is scuba-diving with his partner Nik when they both find a 300-year-old Spanish coin. Soon learning that it has an entire history behind it filled with mystery, they soon both find them tangled up in a web of intrigue. Hiring their friend Ike, an ex Navy SEAL, to protect them, they aim to get to the bottom of the mystery in hand. Will they uncover the truth? Who is after them? What is embedded within the blood in the water?
