Born on the 21st of November in 1953, Christina Hambley Brown, Lady Evans CBE was to become an acclaimed English journalist, broadcaster, columnist, magazine editor, and author. She was born in the town of Maidenhead, Berkshire, in England and raised in Little Marlow, Buckinghamshire. George Hambley Brown, her father, was a film producer, best known for the Miss Marple series of films featuring Margaret Rutherford. While Bettina Kohr, her mother, was of part Iraqi descent and worked as an executive assistant to Laurence Olivier.

In 1973, Brown’s writings were introduced to Harold Evans, The Sunday Times editor, and she was provided freelance assignments by its features editor, Ian Jack. She later left to write for The Sunday Telegraph after she and Evans developed a relationship. On the 20th August 1981, marrying at Grey Gardens in East Hampton, in New York, and lived in New York City until his death in 2020. They also had two children, Georgie and Isabel.
