Tish Rabe is a published author known for her children’s books.

Tish has composed well over 160 books written for children. These include books written for Curious George, Blue’s Clues, Huff and Puff, Disney, Sesame Street, Cat in the Hat, and more. She was hired in 1996 by Random House to write a new line of books that were about rhyming science for The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library. The series was adapted to a television series that airs on PBS Kids called “The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That”.

Her last name is pronounced ‘Robby’. She is a huge advocate for literacy in early childhood. She also is part of the advisory board for the program Reach Out and Read Connecticut. She lives in Connecticut and New York, splitting her time between Mystic and New York City. She is also a mother, step mother, and grandmother.

Tish attended Ithaca College School of Music and graduated cum laude, gaining her degree in the field of vocal performance. She sings jazz and opera. She was able to get a job on Sesame Street (a television show for kids aired on PBS) for its early seasons, thanks to the assistance of her old music director from her Massachusetts high school, Dave Connor. She collaborated with Jim Henson directly and was even able to sing on the background vocals with the Muppets.

Rabe then became an associate producer on a family special called Big Bird in China, which was shot in China and is an hour and a half. The special won an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Children’s Program. In the show, Rabe also sings a song called “The Monkey King”. Once the author and producer came back from China, she was invited to be a senior producer on a science series for children called “3-2-1 Contact”, which was funded by the NSF (National Science Foundation).

Tish worked for five seasons on this series. During that time, she wrote lyrics and scripts for many of its songs. Some popular singers were a part of the show as well. Pat Benatar did the vocals for a song regarding endangered animals called “They’re Endangered”. There were other songs that were on the program including “People Are Mammals Too”. Rabe was also a vocalist and sang for many of the show’s segments. Her work on the series earned her an Emmy nomination for the category of best musical direction.

Tish then worked for Random House as their senior producer when it comes to children’s media. She would create special home videos for series such as Richard Scarry, Dr. Seuss, The Berenstain Bears, and more. Tish also worked on a Christmas Special called “The City Mouse and the Country Mouse” for HBO. She wrote original songs for the special and Crystal Gayle sang two of them.

She then became the head writer for a series called “The Country Mouse and the City Mouse Adventures”. The author has the head of a group of writers of international origin for a total of 52 episodes. Rabe also wrote for “Clifford” as well as “Clifford’s Puppy Days”. She also worked for the Cartoon Network as the creative consultant for “Gerald McBoing Boing”. She also collaborated with author Rosemary Wells, helping make the Max and Ruby book series into a television series for the network Nickelodeon. She also worked for HBO Family, adapting the “I Spy” books and making them into an animated series for Scholastic Entertainment.

She has worked for Soundprints as their music producer and editorial director, making audio and book CDs. She has also written her own original songs for companies and organizations such as Sesame Street, Disney, the African Wildlife Foundation, and the Smithsonian Institution. She has been a narrator and a singer for Disney Princess as well as Bambi recordings.

The author has been given the nickname of ‘the singing author’ by fans. She travels to different elementary schools close by to give live visits and inspire students to share her passion for singing, reading, and writing. She also likes talking to parent groups and promoting childhood literacy. She has written many books and created the board book titled “Love You, Hug You, Read to You!”. She also made a Spanish and English version of the book.

Tish has a musical band that is a mix of jazz and country. Tish Rabe and Friends is a great way to express herself and have a blast with other performers. She performs near her homes in New York City and Mystic. When she’s not reading, writing, or promoting both, she loves spending time with family.

Tish Rabe is the author of The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library series. This series started in 1998. It features books about all types of subjects, from learning about birds to mammals, dinosaurs, bugs, maps, tropical rain forests, and more. It’s a great way for kids to get into reading and learn things about the world too. If you are a parent or a teacher, be sure to check out this educational, fun and informative series for a great time with adults and kids that the younger ones will certainly enjoy.

Fine Feathered Friends: All About Birds is the fun first book in the Learning Library series, a spin off of Cat in the Hat!

Dick and Sally are kids that are going on a bird-watching tour. Leading it is none other than the Cat in the Hat. They get to find out what defines a bird and then go around the world with the Cat, getting the chance to look at the birds in the habitats they naturally occupy.

There are so many birds to see, from bald eagles to hummingbirds to ostriches, chickadees, and more! Dick and Sally are fascinated, and time is flying by. The hour is getting on, and they need to get home quick. The Cat helps them out by changing his vehicle into a special flying mode that has the children home just in time. Find out about birds and more by reading this book!

Is a Camel a Mammal? is the second book in The Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library series. Sally and Dick are back. This time they go on a safari, where they learn about mammals and the different types that exist.

If you love animals, this is a great and informative book to read!
