Traci Andrighetti
Traci Andrighetti is a USA Today bestselling author. She wrote her first mystery novel in her bedroom with cousin Louisa when they were only twelve years old. It was called “The Message in the Driftwood”, a la Nancy Drew. However she then abandoned writing in order to pursue other interests like boys, parties, and makeup.
When Traci went to college, she fell in love with foreign languages and she studied Latin, Spanish, Italian, and French, although Italian is her absolute favorite. Thanks to her passion for Italian, she became an award winning literary translator. She also landed her dream job teaching Italian at the University of Texas at Austin, where she eventually earned a PhD in Applied Linguistics.
After she suffered through months of dry dissertation writing, she decided it was time to write a mystery again. She was inspired by all the hundreds of “Murder, She Wrote” episodes she had watched to destress while she was in graduate school and all the colorful mystery novels of Italian writers like Gabriella Genisi and Andrea Camilleri she read for fun and for school.
She would never have written a single line of text without any encouragement from her very persistent friend Linda and her Italian students, many of whom convinced her to write after they listened to her stories about her 80s college escapades and crazy amazing adventures traveling around Italy. Traci is incredibly grateful to every single one of them.
“Limoncello Yellow” is the first novel in the “Franki Amato Mysteries” series and was released in 2014. Franki’s very first Mardi Gras is murder.
Francesca “Franki” Amato is a straight shooting rookie cop in Austin, Texas, until this embarrassing 911 call prompts her take this job at her best friend’s PI agency in New Orleans. However she soon learns that solving crime in The Big Easy ain’t no Bourbon Street party.
Case in point, her first investigation involves this murder of a gorgeous boutique manager that was strangled with a cheap yellow scarf, and her prime suspect is her client.
When she isn’t on the clock, she hopes she can get cozy with this one handsome bank executive called Bradley, however her meddlesome Sicilian nonna has these other ideas about who she should really date. While Mardi Gras approaches and the boutique mystery deepens, Franki has to decipher the strange ramblings of this voodoo priestess, or she could wind up single, as well as the next strangling victim.
“Prosecco Pink” is the second novel in the “Franki Amato Mysteries” series and was released in 2014. Life in New Orleans, for Franki Amato, is far from “The Big Easy”. When she met the handsome bank executive Bradley Hartmann, she knew that she had finally found a guy that she could trust.
However she cannot say the same for his sexy new secretary, who is about as trustworthy as Mata Hari and every bit as seductive. At the same time Veronica Maggio, Franki’s employer and best friend, has named her the lead investigator in the murder of this gorgeous cosmetics CEO that was found lying dead in the master bedroom of this historic plantation home.
Now Franki is under pressure to figure out what a bottle of pink lip gloss and the legend about a pink diamond have to do with this strange killing. Problem is that this plantation is notorious for being haunted, and Franki is less that enthusiastic about meeting some ghost. Adding to this stress, her Sicilian grandmother is up to her typical meddling antics, this time around planning Franki’s engagement to Bradley before he’s even thought about popping the question.
While Bradley gets more distant and plantation employees start dropping like Southern belles during a sweltering summer, she turns to a psychic with a phobia of ghosts to solve these mysterious murders and her own relationship fears.
“Amaretto Amber” is the third novel in the “Franki Amato Mysteries” series and was released in 2016. Private Investigator Franki Amato has recently turned thirty, and she feels anything but festive. To start with, she has given up sweets and cannot have cake, and one of her teeth is killing her. To add insult to birthday injury, she’s got to investigate a surreal strip club homicide, with her sixtyish former stripper landlady.
Then her meddling Sicilian grandmother crashes the New Orleans non-party and insists she steal a lemon so she can land a husband. Unfortunately for Franki, the guy she has in mind has got his mind someplace else, and their relationship appears to have soured.
Adding to her troubles, she must figure out what a mysterious amaretto bottle and a missing amber pendant have to do with this murder, not to mention why somebody would be following her. When a second dancer goes down and there’s a third being threatened, she turns to this weird witch in order to crack this case and to cancel a curse before somebody is able to blow their candles out for good.
“Campari Crimson” is the fourth novel in the “Franki Amato Mysteries” series and was released in 2018. Halloween is looming large in the city of New Orleans, and Private Investigator Franki Amato’s in a gloomy mood. Bradley’s leaving on an extended business trip, and her slacker brother is coming to town with her matchmaking nonna that is determined to see a Sicilian lemon superstition bear some fruit.
At the same time, the whole city is spooked because of a caped figure is targeting its blood banks. Things take a macabre turn when a psychic makes this dark prediction about Franki’s brother and a frat guy is discovered in a cemetery crypt with all his blood drained. As bad luck would have it, Franki gets hired to investigate the murder by the top police suspect, an eighteenth century vampire impersonator.
A detective acquaintance offers her the chance to team up to find this killer, however he is interested in more than Franki’s professional input. To solve this case, she goes solo in NOLA’s vampire community, and she immerses herself into the local vampire legends. Can she prevent another bloodletting? Or is the next blood getting spilled going to be her own?
