Victoria H. Smith
Victoria H. Smith has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. It is something she puts to good use while writing romance all day. She lives in the Midwest with her Macbook always on her lap and a cornfield to the right. Victoria typically draws inspiration for her work from her life experiences, and her characters that she writes typically give her an earful all about it.

During her free time, she enjoys watching Scandal, extreme couponing, reading, and typical geekery in the form of DC Comics and Sherlock.

“The Space Between” flowed super well for her, as she wrote the first draft in just a little over a week. Her original plans for the novel stayed pretty consistent throughout the entire process, however while she was drafting she originally had Drake meet Lacey at some costume party. He sees her acting on stage in full costume and fell for her sight unseen since she wore a mask. She’s not sure why she wound up changing it but it worked out pretty well in the end.

Only thing she wanted to touch on more was Drake’s adoption. It’s something she wanted so much that “The Dividing Line” and its novella were born, as “The Space Between” was a stand alone originally.

Each book that Victoria writes has got its own soundtrack. She likes listening to music as she writes sometimes. At other times she’ll use songs only to inspire. “Unpretty” by TLC was her main song to represent Roxie in “Found By You”. It’s a place that we have all been in, she feels, and it was just a perfect song for Roxie. For Drake and Lacey, the song “The Space Between” by Dave Matthews Band, which was also the inspiration for the book’s title, was their perfect song too. Victoria thinks about them every single time that she hears that song.

She feels like there is a song for each and every single character in her books. Like their anthem and it is a ton of fun finding that one perfect song which defines them. She creates these playlists for her books on Spotify.

She is a big fan of Raven’s work and enjoyed working with her so much. They got to talking and a joint project made a ton of sense. Their styles are quite similar so working together really worked for them. What Victoria loved most was having somebody to bounce her ideas off of. They never got stuck since there were two brains to work through each problem, which was great.

She is the 2014 winner of a Swirl Award for Best New Adult Romance, and received a AMB Ovation Award for “Found By You”, her new adult romance.

“The Space Between” is the first novel in the “Space” series and was released in 2013. When Drake began the night at his dad’s campaign fundraiser, he never once imagined that he would end it getting conned into buying drugs on the West Side. Losing at high stakes poker has got its repercussions, yet he would face them all repeatedly to hear Lacey Douglas sing. He sees her light up the whole stage, and he must have her. Only his intentions for being out on her side of town end up being the reason he cannot.

Lacey, a Chicago native, has got dreams of the opera, yet life’s got its obstacles. Lacey has come to know that her hardships as part of living in the real world and are something she accepts them much more fully. When Lacey meets the invigorating and intense Drake, there is a fire lit in her, and unleashes those dreams yet again.

Two paths which should never have been crossed prove to create just the pairing that the other one needs. Yet when their worlds take time to catch up to them, everything that they have gets tested. Finding the necessary space between both sides which challenge them is going to be tough, yet it is the only place that is going to keep them together.

“The Dividing Line” is the second novel in the “Space” series and was released in 2014. A new life and a new love.

Drake left Chicago without much more than the clothes on his back in order to be with Lacey, his girlfriend. Even though he’s got no regrets, he wonders sometimes if his time in Paris has put his own life on hold. He is underpaid and overworked at his dead end job, and his employer only sees him as expendable. His bright light at every day’s end is Lacey, yet finds he’s slowly falling into her new acquired fame’s shadow. The city of love has found their new starlet in Lacey, however Drake is just the guy by her side.

All good things come with their price.

Lacey’s been living the dream. She showed up in Paris without anything but loss and heartache. Now, Lacey is the rising star of the town’s latest opera and dating the guy of her dreams. Her performance contract gets extended, she has to decide if her new life of glam and glitz is what is truly best for a future with the love of her life or if it is only what is best for her.

Paris brought Lacey and Drake together, yet when their hopes for the future start taking them in entirely different directions, they have to find some common ground or they’ll risk a line dividing them which might prove to be insurmountable.

“Roxie & Griffin” is a prequel novel in the “Found By You” series and was released in 2015. It all began when he gave her that extra quarter in the laundry room. But did it really?

He was just a boy that lived the dream with never ending possibilities all around him. And she was only a girl that lived under the radar. Neither one of them knew the other one, however both were intertwined in ways that they couldn’t even fathom.

Learn what happened the day before they spoke in the laundry room and how that night might not have been the very first time Roxie came to Griffin’s rescue.
