Victoria Dahl is a RITA award-winning novelist and USA bestselling author hailing from the Midwest, United States. She is well known for writing suspense, thriller, and mystery novels under the pen name of Victoria Helen Stone; and contemporary romance and historical romance stories under her original name. Some of the popular book series written by Dahl include the Tumble Creek series, the Jackson series, the Donovan Brothers’ Brewery series, the Somerhart series, etc. Most of these series are trilogies and are popular all over the world. The standalone suspense novels written under her nom de plume include Half Past, False Step, Jane Doe, and Evelyn, After. Dahl started her career in the romance genre and after successfully publishing over 25 novels, she decided to shift her focus towards the darker side of the fiction genre. She was born and brought up in the Midwest.

While she was growing up, her mother helped her develop an interest in reading and writing as she too was an avid reader of fiction. Dahl was just 11 years old when she started reading popular fiction books along with her mother, which initially seemed highly inappropriate to her. A very popular series written by author Victoria Dahl is known as the Jackson series. It is comprised of a total of 3 novels and 2 novellas released between 2012 and 2013. Every book of this series depicts a romance story and features different central characters. Some of the essential characters mentioned by Dahl include Grace Barrett, Cole Rawlins, Jenny Stone, Nate Hendricks, Eve Hill, Brian Stewart, Merry Kade, Shane Harcourt, Charlie Allington, Walker Pearce, etc. The stories are primarily set in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, United States. The debut book of this series is entitled ‘Close Enough to Touch’. It was released in 2012 by the Harlequin HQN publication. The novel features the lead characters in the roles of Cole Rawlins and Grace Barrett. Initially, Grace Barrett is introduced as a makeup artist. She works in Hollywood and doesn’t see it as a land of dreams and golden opportunities. For her, Hollywood is where people find difficult divas, unemployment, and cheating boyfriends.

When nothing seems to be going her way, she decides to accept her great aunt’s offer of staying with her in Jackson Hole for some time and figure out what to make of her life. Grace intends to move out to somewhere exciting and live a happy life once she has figured out the direction in which her future is headed. As soon as Grace Barrett arrives in Jackson Hole, she realizes that the small town has a lot more thrills to offer than she had expected. She comes across Cole Rawlins, a rugged cowboy born and raised in Wyoming. Cole seems to get drawn to the beautiful Grace Barrett, who comes to live in the house across the lane. Grace maintains a tough facade and doesn’t her guard down. Cole attempts to get too close to her in order to overcome the tough facade, but fears that it might also reveal his secret of having a bad history with Hollywood. Soon after, the two find themselves attracted towards each other with a force that none of them is able to control. For making their relationship work, Grace and Cole need to trust each other with their secrets. When they realize that it is the only way they can have a happy future, reveal everything about themselves to one another and accept each other with all their strengths and limitations.

The next volume of this series is called ‘Too Hot to Handle’. It was also released by Harlequin HQN in 2013 and features the main characters portrayed by Shane Harcourt and Merry Kade. The book opens by showing that Merry Kade has lived her life being a good girl and best friend. She has always prevented herself from taking the first step in starting a new relationship, but that has never worked in her favor. So, she intends to have a change in her lifestyle and personality. After scoring her dream job, she is all set to change her life for good. Merry is tasked with supervising restoration works at a Wyoming museum as its new curator. This work gets her acquainted with Shane Harcourt, a dashing contractor. When he is approached by Merry Kade for the restoration work, he couldn’t believe that she wants to set up a museum attraction in the ghost town.

Another reason why Shane doesn’t approve of Merry Kade’s new project is that he doesn’t want to see his dream ranch’s site turn into a tourist spot. Shane Harcourt agrees to work on the project, but with the intention of turning it into a failure. However, the quirky and beautiful Merry Kade ends up changing his mind. She cannot believe that she has succeeded in making a strong, handsome man fall for her beauty. Shane fears that Merry will be left with a broken heart if she learns about his ulterior motives. So, he reveals everything to her and requests her to trust his love for her as he is unable to resist it in spite of trying his best. Merry understands that Shane has a pure and he is a man she can trust with her heart. The two go on to cherish a relationship full of passion and romance.
