Victoria Schade
Victoria Schade is an author, trainer, and a speaker. She is all about dogs. Victoria has worked in front of as well as behind the camera on Animal Planet, co-hosting “Faithful Friends” and as a wrangler and trainer on the popular Puppy Bowl specials.

She serves frequently as a resource for the media, including The Smithsonian Channel, WEtv, the CBS Early Show, and Fox. Victoria has also contributed Reader’s Digest, Martha Stewart Living, The Bark, The Washington Post, and Real Simple Magazine, as well as many dog-specific publications.

Victoria shares her 1850’s always-in-need-of-renovations home with Tom (her incredibly tolerant husband). As well as her two dogs: Millie Smooth Brussels Griffon (who wants you know that she is not a skinny pug), and Olive the mixed breed dog, as well as the occasional foster pup.

During the first decade plus training dogs, it was a full-time job, where she would get up at eight in the morning and do private lessons for the entire day. Things wound up shifting over the years. She got lucky that she is able to focus more on her writing, both non-fiction for various pet outlets and her novel writing. She still trains, but her caseload has changed. And she is lucky that she gets to work with Philadelphia shelter dogs, as she volunteers for ACCT Philadelphia.

In her novel “Who Rescued Who”, she took the way a pet parent views a puppy and just amplified it. Every client she gets has some version of the complaint that a puppy is biting them, what is going on? Elizabeth, a character in the novel who knows nothing about dogs, believes something is wrong with the puppy, thinking it could have rabies. She infused the book with a voice of reason, in the form of Elizabeth’s aunt, who knows about dogs and shows her the way.

Victoria had a ton of trouble coming up with the title for her second novel, and time was running out. She was going back and forth with Kevan Lyon, her agent, who just came out with “Who Rescued Who”. She knew right away that this was the right one without question. It beautifully encapsulated the story inside of the novel.

She finds that non-fiction is a field that you have to be diligent since people want to replicate what they’re told to do. Fiction, on the other hand, is a ton of fun. She finds that it is more fun to write about adventures in England. It makes sense to her since the stories that went alongside with the instructions were the things she enjoyed writing the most.

Victoria received a DWAA Maxwell Award for her puppy training DVD, called “New Puppy! Now What?”.

Her debut novel, called “Life on the Leash”, was released in the year 2018. She writes romance novels as well as some non-fiction books about working with dogs.

“Life on the Leash” is the first stand alone novel and was released in the year 2018. A dog trainer is a master at managing her four-legged friends, however when it comes to her love life… well let’s just say she has still got a bunch to learn.

Cora Bellamy is a woman that thrives on organization. She has successfully run her dog training business for many years, just content with her beloved rescue pitbull as her main man. She has given everything she has over to this business, as well as her lack of a social life (or slobber-free clothes) has been totally worth it all.

All of this changes when she meets the hottest client she has ever had, named Charlie Gill. The one problem? Charlie is already taken. Luckily, Cora has got a new friend in Eli Crawford, the sweet and lovably geeky. He is more loyal than a retriever, he is always there to help Cora out with each of her problems, including her love life. That is why she is shocked to find out that even while things begin heating up with Charlie, there could just be a more-than-friends spark between both her and Eli as well.

While Cora’s life starts getting more tangled up than the leashes of a dogwalker, and while she is preparing to audtion for a dog-training TV show that could change everything for her, she must figure things out before everything goes right to the dogs.

This is a hilarious book that appeals to dog lovers, yet is so much more than that. There is also some realistic depictions of dog training with positive reinforcement rather than abuse and negativity.

“Who Rescued Who” is the second stand alone novel and was released in the year 2020. Where can you go when the world winds up turning against you? Elizabeth Barnes’ life fell completely apart, however she never imagined that she would be rescued by a new friend on four paws.

The plan was a simple one. Elizabeth would ignore the fact that she got fired unjustly from her dream job, go across the pond to settle the unexpected inheritance in her dad’s home country. Then quickly come back to reclaim her position among all the Silicon Valley elite.

Elizabeth comes across an abandoned puppy, she is stunned to find that her quick trip to England may turn into an extended stay. Elizabeth’s strict itinerary gets upended entirely by the dogged devotion from the dog, and quickly the loveable puppy helps her connect with one tight-knit community of brand new friends, both on four and two legs. From the grumpy coffee shop owner to the aunt and uncle she did not realize she had to a couple of opinonated sheep.

Along the way, she gets confronted by some long-kept family secrets, hard truths on her former life and one new romance that could lead her to question everything she knows about love. Sometimes rescue magic happens on either side of the leash.

This novel features whip smart and crackling dialogue and touching tale of redemption. Victoria does a great job of showing what it means to be rescued from our very worst selves to be transformed into our very best.
