Publication Order of Joanna Brady and Brandon Walker Books

J. A. Jance is an American author who is famous for penning a number of books under the caption Walker Family Mysteries. She has made a name in the areas of mystery and horror works. Many of her books revolve around J. P. Beaumont, who is a retired Police Department Detective in Seattle. There are other characters too and they include Joanna Brady Arizona County Sheriff and Ali Reynolds who is mystery solver though previously he was Los Angeles news anchor. Jance was born in Watertown, South Dakota and she graduated from University Or Arizona. Right now she lives both Seattle and Arizona. When writing books she uses her initials. This is because she was once told by a publisher to hide her gender identity. This was presumably because it might be an impediment for the sale of all her books which were centered round a male detective. Over the past many years she has been able to raise more than $250,000 towards charity. We will look at the central characters revolving around Walker Family Mysteries and also have a look at a few of her books.

Success Through Walker Family Mysteries

There is no doubt that J. A. Jance has scaled new heights of success and popularity through the Walker Family Mysteries. She has written five books under this series and each one of them are unique and different in their own ways. They are extremely interesting, gripping, filled with suspense and according to many readers, simply unputdownable. The central character around which all these books, as mentioned above, centers around J. P. Beaumont, who is an imaginary character discovered by Jance. He is similar to the Pima county detective who Jance met during the 1970s in connection with a serial killer in Arizona. He was a person who was hooked to drinks and Jance had a feeling that this character resembled her first husband. Though Beaumont is a high class detective Jance believes that all her characters were human beings first and then the characters whom she tried to depict in her books. As mentioned above there are other characters too Joana Brady and Ali Reynolds amongst others who have important roles to play. All the characters are vividly defined and have important and stellar roles to perform and are intricately woven into the plot of each and every story of the five books penned by J. A. Jance. It would be interesting to have a look at two such books which are quite interesting though even the others are equally gripping and worth reading.

Hour Of The Hunter

This is without any doubt a critically acclaimed and extremely well received masterpiece under the Walker Family Mysteries (Series by J. A. Jance). It takes the readers to the American Southwest and it well and truly moves us into the very heart of terror. The hunter is back again on the prowl after having served a prison sentence. The character is Andrew Carlisle a brilliant but highly dangerous psychopath. He was jailed for six years after being convicted for brutal torture and killing of a young girl belonging to the Tohono O’odham Tribe. He was put behind bars following a testimony by Diana Ladd. She is now scared to death as the prowler is back on the street again thirsting for revenge and death. She is petrified at the thought that Carlisle will most certainly track her down and her son wherever they might be hiding. Is there any way she can prevent near certain death? If so, who will be there to help her? This is what this book is all about.

Dance Of The Bones

Dance of the Bones is about the brutal murder of Amos Warren, a prospector. He was gunned down at point blank range and Sheriff Brandon Walker was the one who arrested the killer. As events turn out the alleged killer John Lassiter may not be the actual killer and he wants to have his named cleared. He refuses to accept a deal set out by Brandon Walker which would have enabled him to walk out jail. So Walker, post his retirement has a job in his hands. He has one last chance to find the actual killers of Amos Warren and this certainly is not going to be an easy task. He takes the help of J. P. Beaumont who some thousands of miles away is at the cross roads of his life. The Special Homicide Investigation Team fondly referred to as S.H.I.T has been disbanded.

Brandon, as he moves forwarding trying the solve the murder of Amos Warren finds that there are some unexplained links between Lassiter and an unsolved case which is still lying in Seattle. He therefore comes to Beaumont for help and then the plot takes various twists and turns. The plot becomes thick and filled with suspense when two young boys belonging to the reservation go missing. One of them has close relationship with the Walker family. It now rests on the brains of two seasoned cops Walker and Beaumont to unwind the plot and try to find out the actual killer of Amos Warren and also solve the unsolved case in Seattle. It certainly is extremely interesting as the story swings from one end to another.

There are no books under the Walker Family series which have been made into movies or TV serials. However, at the end of the day there is no doubt that almost each and every book under the Walker Family Series are masterpieces and quite a few of them have been nominated for various awards and recognitions. Apart from the five books under this series, J. A. Jance also has written dozens of other books which are superb and out of the ordinary in their own ways and means. She has well and truly given a new meaning and direction to suspense and horror stories and many of the stories which she has written are extremely terrifying and frightening. They are certainly not for those who are weak hearted and weak kneed. They certainly could bring in hallucinations and unexplained fears if you are not strong willed and strong hearted.
