Biography:
Wendy Mass was born on April 22, 1967, in Livingston, New Jersey. From her very school life, Mass was enchanted with reading and writing and spent most of her time doing the same. She also used to work at town libraries in her young age and helped her friends with college applications. She had started to develop her writing skills as a child only when she used to read a maximum number of books for winning over her friends.

She wrote several books in her school time along with her siblings and contested for various awards as well. Although her former dream was to become an astronaut, her unending love for writing eventually shaped her career as a well-established author.

Apart from reading books and working in the library, she also took writing classes for sharpening her writing skills to make sure she left no stone unturned in her career as a writer. After majoring in English at the Tufts University, she moved to Los Angeles and tried her hands on several writing jobs as an editor, literary agent and script reader and so on. She finally realized what she wanted the most and started writing books for pre-teens, teens, and adults.

She also pursued Master’s Degree in creative writing from California State, Long Beach and also a Doctor of Letters degree from Drew University.

Now, Mass has again moved back to her hometown Sparta, New Jersey from where she writes and also works as a book editor. She lives there with her husband, twins and two cats.

Books:
In her last six years of career as a writer, she has written seventeen educational books and all of them have become very successful with several of them also winning prestigious awards. This series consists of three children’s fantasies namely Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast told in alternating perspectives of the two main characters. All the three well-known and already read books received a surprisingly warm reception from the readers. They were considered as a fresh take on age-old fairy tales. Wendy has gone all-out to add contemporary attitude and humor all throughout the stories that fairly sparkles when you read them.

With her upbeat, breezy and clever writing, Wendy has undoubtedly done a commendable job of making these books great for both young and young-at-heart readers. The plots are kept clean and lighthearted but reasonably charming. As a reader, you will be left wondering about a new state of mind these books can take you to. Series 2: Willow Falls:

All the five books of the series 11 Birthdays, Finally, 13 Gifts, The Last Present and Graceful have received positive reviews by the literary critics and also from the general public. The books are completely imaginatively developed to please the young and growing minds of the children.

The middle-grade friendships and humor will hook your kids to the books who will immediately fall in love with the entire series. Mass is an expert at keeping the pace of the story constant and interesting which can be easily made out of her books.

Movie Adaptation:
The movie version of Wendy Mass’s Jeremy-Fink and the Meaning of Life is already out in 2012. Tamar Halpern adapted this book for a feature film and he is the one who directed it as well. The story revolves around a twelve-year-old boy, Jeremy-Fink and his neighbor Lizzy Muldoun. The plot reveals their attempts to retrieve four keys that can unlock a wooden box which was delivered on Jeremy’s 13th birthday. Maxwell Beer and Ryan Simpkins starred in the movie as Jeremy and Lizzy respectively. In his unlimited attempts to get his hands on the lost keys, Jeremy Fink learned the true meaning of life from all the different people he met during his journey.

Overall, it is a moving tale of unique friendship and self-discovery. Both the novel and the movie will leave you dazed for sure.

Wendy Mass is a much-loved author whose die-hard fans are always waiting eagerly to read as much of her incredible work as possible.
